Devils Lake vs Fargo North

 I just got back from the Spartan Dome where Devils Lake beat North 54-51.  North took a big lead to start the game but eventually the athletacism of Devil Lake took over.  The Firebirds dont' have any dominant post players but they all hit the boards like crazy.  Travis Mertens is 6'4" but usually plays away from the basket.  He definetly isn't afraid to attack the boards.  Good win by them tonight.  I got this picture from my camera phone.  North missed a 3 at the end to tie the game.

that was a very well played game, but the firebirds sure stopped the spartans big gun in the second half. that tells you that the firebirds can flat out play defense.  look for big things from the firebirds come tournament time.
