Has anybody had the chance to see Brian Qvale from Williston play yet?  The word is he will be recruited by a lot of teams.

Qvale is a really good player and his better years will probably be in college. I think he's probably missing Hennessy to get him the ball this year.

I heard Texas Tech wanted him as an early signee...

Bottom line, he's 6-foot-10 and pretty athletic. That's a pretty dangerous duo.

He hasn't done much this season... Very few shot attempts. I thought he had less than 5 FG attempts at one game in the East-West classic (although I could be wrong). Hennessy is tough to replace. He made things way easier for the rest of the team.

North knocks off W.F. last night at the North gym.  They had to hit a three with one second to force overtime.  Probably a preview of the EDC championship.  Erdman scored 26.

I bet the Minot High and Ryan coaches are wishing the Erdmann family would have never left town. North has got some pretty good ballplayers.

What about Devils Lake in the East???

Oops, my bad, forgot about DL.  I would love to see them take it all, that town would be excited.  There is usually always some good BB in the DL area.  I'd like to see that Mertens play, I kinda hope he plays a sport for the Bison.

What does Mertens do in college play basketball or football? He excels very well at both. Is there anywhere he could do both?

It hasn't sounded to me like he's being recruited very hard for football.  Maybe he'll end up at a place like Minot St. and play basketball.

What I heard about Mertens is that he struggles in school, so maybe a Junior College is where he will end up.... Lake Region?

He is the best player in the EDC!!

The new poll is out, looks like South moved ahead of Dickinson and North fell to 4th behind West Fargo.  Minot looks to be the class of the West, what happened to the Coyotes?

The 'Yotes beat Dicky last week on a Qvale tip-in at the buzzer.

Devils Lake thumps West Fargo last night 71-52,  does anyone know if Devils Lake and Minot face off in the regular season?  That would be a really good game.

Devils Lake doesn't play Minot in the regular season. Looks like they will have to meet up at state at some point to play.

Devils Lake beat a poor Fargo Shanley team in Fargo last night on a last second shot by Mertens!!   Don't give the league title to DL just yet.... Fargo North, Fargo South and West Fargo will have something to say about who wins the tough EDC.

I think Devils Lake can be beat, I watched them play and I didn't think they matched up against North very well because of Norths size in the middle.  Mertens is great, but he doesn't play close to the basket a lot.  If they have an off shooting night they could be in trouble.

I would first like to most teams in the EDC can be beat on any given night, especially on the road. Shanley only lost to South by five so I wouldn't label them a poor team at all. Also, don't forget about Wahpeton surprising some teams--right North?? or even GF Central has come on strong. Every team better be ready to play on any given night in the EDC.

I heard UND offered him a scholarship for football---that's pretty good I would think--even though I'm a BISON fan.

I think any of the eight teams that make the state tourney will have a legit shot at winning the title. Even though Minot has gone undefeated in the West, I would say five teams (Dix., Century, Bis. High, Beulah, Williston) in the West could beat them on any given night.

Devils Lake may not have five teams that could top them in the East, but I bet there are at least three. Put all that together, and just about anyone could win the state title if they hit a hot streak at the right time.

Shanley has a 2 - 7 record in the EDC right now and is 4 - 7 overall,  is this the record of a good team?  granted winning in the EDC on the road is tough but come tournament time Devils Lake will have to play much better.  Wahpeton is a scary team, they are young with only 1 senior on the team, they will scare someone in the tournament!

As of late Shanley has played Minot, Wahpeton,GF Central, DL, and Fargo South within 10 points or less. So they aren't terrible.

Devils Lake is clearly the best team in the state right now beating west fargo and north even tho they barley beat shanley every team has an off night and DL still wins on off nights. I predict that they go undefeated.

Everything changes at tournament time. Everyone is gunning to upset #1, especially if they're undefeated.

Would be cool to see the perfect season though!
