You don't have to be Senior player of the year.  You just have to be a Senior.

So when coaches vote for class B player of the year they can vote for any senior? I thought each Regions Senior region player of the year, were the only ones that could get voted for Class B player of the year.

Im pretty sure each of the 8 regions pick a player from that region to be up for the coaches player of the year... then they get together at the State tournament and vote for the finalist and winner... so the Player of the year has to come from the 8 region winners,  In Class A , the east and west coaches nominate two players and then vote on the winner at the state tournament also.

The MR Basketball is strictly a media pick but they do ask coaches before they vote.
