I think the X-factor to game #3 is Minot defense and their depth. I think Minot can score since Davies allows 69 points per game. But it Depends on how many points Davies will score.

I remember a couple of years ago when Minot played a heavily favored, high-scoring Shanley team in the first round led by A.J. Jacobson. Minot led all the way through until they lost it in the end.

They will be the underdog (obviously), but they've been in this situation before.

If Kretchman goes under 28, I think Minot can win. I just wonder who they will have guard him. I would try to have Lund guard him, as I think he provides a ton of length and would be a bit more challenging to shoot over. Minot's advantage in this game is definitely what they can do around the rim. Davies has star power.

I don't know. If Lund guards him, then he wont be inside for rebounds. I also don't think lund is quick enough. Since Kretchman is only 5'11", I might put halvorson on him.

Like you said, Minot definitely has a size advantage.

I haven't seen Davies play, but what kind of player is Kretchman ( shooter, slasher, combo).

Kretchman is a shooter/slasher/combo. Gets wherever he wants to on the court, gets his shot most anytime he needs to. Can't sleep on Kozlowski, Davies will have the two best players on the court. The rest of the team fills their roles.

I would have picked Century to win it all if Hutchins was healthy.

Of the two number one seeds, Century and Davies, it would seem that Century got the easier first game, but perhaps the tougher semi-final game, especially if St. Mary's can escape Wahpeton in the opener. The St. Mary's-Wahpeton and Bismarck-Fargo South games are tough to pick, and Davies would probably prefer to play Minot in another locale.

Should be a great tourney. For a bit of fun, my predictions below:

Quarterfinals
• Century over Shanley
• St. Mary’s over Wahpeton
• Davies over Minot
• Fargo South over Bismarck

Semi-finals
• St. Mary's over Century
• Davies over Fargo South

Final
• Davies over St. Mary's

Davies is not going to kill you on the offensive glass. In my opinion, Minot has a positive position match up at the 3, 4, and 5, where Davies has a positive position match up at the 1 and the 2. Lund is one of the best perimeter defenders in North Dakota, and I think he would do a very good job bothering with length. Kretchman reminds me of Jordan May, a lot. Not tall. Very good ball handler and shooter. Great with pull up action and very good great in the pick and roll. Kozlowski is a good second guy, who scores a ton of garbage points, but I feel Minot wins IF they are able to contain Kretchman, which may or may not be feasible. He is talented.

I am a very big Halvorson fan, but he is even smaller than Kretchman is. I feel like Tanner will just shoot step back threes all game, which he will consistently make.

I would be very surprised if Century lost a game at the state tournament. No one has been able to even remotely slow down Rudolph. Hutchins likely plays at about 80% in the tournament. They blew everyone out at the WDA with him barely being able to move. I could be wrong, but I do not think I will be.

Should be streamed at minottournaments.com and possibly on wday.com

Also, if in the Minot area, the KX weather channel is televising games.

If Shanley plays Century the way they played West Fargo in the EDC Tournament, Century will have to fight hard to win the first game. And, Shanley did outscore them by 24 points in spite of Patrick Strom's vision problems (he had a scratched Cornea and couldn't see out of one eye thanks to a Wahpeton player from the earlier EDC game). At any rate, it could be a very exciting game.

I guess Davies offense is give it to Kretchman and Kozlowski and tell everyone to get out of the way. Neither could miss. Kretchman scored 16 over is season average, and Kozlowski scored 8 overhis season average. those were their only two in double figures. If they would have been closer to there season averages, this would be a much different game.

Lund was on Kretchman many times, and he got beat off the dribble EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

thought for sure that was a mistype until I looked it up. 29/game is impressive.

kretchman and kozlowski honestly look like the best two players in the tourney.. and there on the same team... unbelievable show they put on tonight... I don't see them losing, although after those 2 they don't have too much

All the boys games were impressive and exciting. The losing teams were definitely scrapping their way through and should hold their heads up. The winners had to fight for their wins. I thought no one could top the Wahpeton/St. Mary's game until Minot faced Davies. Wow, what a game!

Was I watching a different game than you? I saw Lund almost exclusively on Kozlowski.

Also, what did work well against Kretchman? He reminds me of Jordan May in so many ways. If you remember the 2008 state tournament, he had 32 in the second half and Dickinson started sending the double at half court.

Sorry I must have been thinking of him. But Lund couldn't stop any one.

But they will have to play like this if they want to beat
Century or SM.

Does anyone know where I could pick up the radio broadcast of games today? I'm assuming the consolation round games will not be live streamed.
