Classless behavior

Just witnessed some of the worst behavior out of parents I've ever seen.

C-squad game, parents come unglued when an official calls a turnover by the team with a lead out of press by the team trailing in the game. Final minute. Coach of the leading team was trying to call time out, the other official saw it late.

After the whistle, the second official blew his whistle, and attempted to come in and communicate with his partner that the team with the lead did, in fact, call a time out. The time out would have prevailed.

The coach of the team with the lead decided to throw a fit and takes a technical foul before the officials can fix the problem.

Parents are all over these two young refs, and they are young, standing and berating these guys trying like aytch eee double-hockey sticks to get the call right.

It's sickening. This team has a fan base that is a real problem at home and on the road, and, of course, they are used to getting their share of favorable calls "down" there where they come from.

Grow up. It's a C-squad game. The refs are likely in college trying to work their way up.

Your kids learn this. No wonder we can't find coaches and referees. Fans need to settle the eff down.

Watched a fan get kicked out of the Stutsman County Boys Tournament last weekend and would like to see more of it. Unfortunately it is a very difficult thing for a referee to do. Would love to see the AD's and people in charge of the venue start removing obnoxious fans and maybe after some were removed the behavior would at least diminish. Heimer is 100% right that this is one of the major reasons we struggle to find referees or coaches, especially at the sub-varsity levels.

I was at a game last Friday, the home team has a history of coaches who seem to endorse borderline play and have a history of bad behavior. A visiting player got the ball on the post, as he is turning to the basket, a home player came across the lane and put a forearm to the head. The visiting player is 6'6", the home player about 5'10", so he had to make an effort to do this, then proceeded to stand above him as he lay on the ground, this should have been a taunting call also. Shortly after, a visiting player was driving to the basket, got sandwiched by 3 players, the same player as earlier put a forearm in the back. Fouled was called, not on him though. Again, a bit after, on a steal and breakaway layup, a home player chased down the player, as he is going up, bodied and forearm in the lower back, foul was called, but should have been a flagrant. The home coach at a minimum should have subbed the players out. The refs, did call fouls, but should have been a couple of flagrants at least. Not sure of the refs were intimidated? I don't mind physical play, but when it could result in injury, bad for the kids and the game. Some coaches maybe aren't fit to be coaching
