Fargo Shanley defeated Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Staples-Motley, and Roseau at the Frazee Tourney. They were able to defend their title from last year even though this was the first time that they were able to step on to a softball diamond this season.

Bismarck swept a double-header against Dickinson on Monday. It was the first time Bismarck took the field, but I think Dickinson already had a few games in before.

Projected state Finnishes
1st shanley
2nd fargo north
3rd west Fargo
4th Red River

Both Minot and Minot Ryan could make an impact at state depending on bracketing. They have some good pitchers that could give the east some trouble. Not exactly sure how the state setup goes...but if Bismarck makes it, they do have some talent, but will have to move up some JV players to add speed. If they do, Bismarck could catch a few east teams off guard early.

If any school is able to win 11 state championships in a row in anything it definately matters. Plus WF beat Shanley tonight to take the #1 seed in state. Could be a dozen years of dominance?

Club championships don't matter compared to a state championship in a sanctioned sport. We will see who takes it now that it matters.

Oh come on...I'm a Shanley fan and have been watching ND state softball for many years. For the players and the coaches the fact that it is sanctioned just means people outside of the sport will be watching more closely. Dont belittle what these girls have been doing for the last 10 years. What WF did is worthy of praise whether the NDHSAA was involved or not. The best team is going to win the championship just as it has for the last ten years...thats not saying the best team this year will be WF it could be shanley but the outcome has nothing to do with whether the sport was sanctioned. And as for who cares...there are a lot of people who cared about softball before it was sanctioned.

I think the Minot teams should definitely be considered in the top four. Both teams beat North, Ryan beat Shanley, and Minot High only lost to Shanley by one and WF by two, whereas in the past they've been beaten by more runs. In order for Bismarck to even make state, they would have to beat one of the two Minot teams. Minot High has beat Bismarck four out of four times playing them and Ryan three out of four times. Neither Minot teams have seen the Grand Forks teams due to weather, but in the past they've done well against them. If everyone wants to exclude the Minot teams from the top four, then be my guest. We'll see how state goes.

I agree that one if not both of the Minot teams will be in the top four. Minot has a lot of depth and Ryan has an excellent pitcher. It will come down to bracketing. Bismarck is inconsistent but could sneak in if Minot or Ryan's pitching struggles.

Predicitons

West Fargo vs. Minot
Fargo South vs. Devils Lake
Fargo Shanley or Fargo North vs. Grand Forks Red River
Fargo North or Fargo Shanley vs. Minot Ryan

Don't know who gets the tie-breaker between Fargo North and Fargo Shanley because they split the series.

With North's loss to WF last night 10-1...Shanley then gets the 2 seed in Region I if they beat Valley City and Central Cass on Thursday.

Does anyone have the updates on the brackets for the State Fastpitch tournament? Minot Ryan is the 1 seed and Minot is the 2 seed out of Region 3.

Predictions
Fargo South over GF Red River
Fargo Shanley over Devils Lake
Minot Ryan over Fargo North
West Fargo over Minot

Minot over GF Red River
Fargo North over Devils Lake
Fargo Shanley over Minot Ryan
West Fargo over Fargo South

GF Red River over Devils Lake
Minot over Fargo North
Minot Ryan over Fargo South
West Fargo over Fargo Shanley

That schedule is messed up, granted WF should get the late game as the host but South and Red River should be playing right before them then

your predictions don't even follow the correct format for the tournament...they only reason WF is playing the late game is because they are hosting the tourney...the WF/Minot winner plays the South/GFRR winner...so you need to re-do your predictions!
