2016 National Meets

2016 National Meets

Postby Shepster » Thu Dec 01, 2016 8:59 am

I think that it is very impressive that a state the size of North Dakota has two girls representing our state at two different National Cross Country meets. Karly Ackley from Grand Forks Central qualified for the Nike National meet that is this weekend in Portland, Oregon and Mattie Shirley-Fairbairn from Bismarck High qualified for the Footlocker National meet on December 10 in San Diego. These are very prestigious meets that are very difficult to qualify for. Best of luck to these two ladies!

Side Note: Grace Ping (8th grader) originally from Winona, MN ran a 15:53 and placed 7th overall.

I was wondering why I didn't see her win a state title this year. Was the move primarily for athletic opportunities?

JH athletes aren't allowed to participate in Varsity in Utah...so therefore that is why her name was never seen...

RETRACTION:
Also times were not what I posted earlier...the unofficial results were not 100% accurate.

Grace Ping was 6th with a 17:48; Karly Ackley was 84th in 19:17

Area Team-Wise (22 Teams):
GIRLS: Willmar, MN was 5th and Edina, MN was 12th
BOYS: Wayzata, MN was 10th and Edina, MN was 18th
