Do you think he can win nationals individually next year?

And on a similar note, should Bismarck spare extra expense next year sending their top runners to bigger, better meets to cater to the fact that they are too good for this state?

He won't win unless he can beat Edward Cheserek.

Anyone know why he didn't run the 5K? I guess he could have done a different event.

Cheserek won the 2 mile (8:55.12)...I guess Cheserek decided to only run one event

He won the Nike Heartland Regional in Yankton, South Dakota in early November...Nike Nationals are next weekend in Eugene, Oregon

Today, Jake won the Foot Locker Midwest Regional in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 14:56 (sounds like he didn't run it as hard as he could have with Nike Nationals being next weekend)...Foot Locker Nationals are December 8th in San Diego, California

He hasn't run in a meet yet. Oregon has only had one meet so far this year. I believe the compete at Boston College this weekend.

The write up in the roster section:

Nice.
The guy that beat him was the same guy that beat him at the national xc meet a couple years ago.

I thought that it might be worth noting that Jake just competed at the NCAA D1 Cross Country Championships on Friday and got 149th place with a 10k time of 31:46 and was Oregon's 5th runner (they placed 5th as a team). Congrats to him!

For a guy that was the #1/2(?) recruit in the nation that doesn't seem very good.

Well yes, but he had a similar problem at high school nationals his senior year. Good track runners like himself get up on their toes and bounce when they run, and since nationals was a very wet course, a lot of top runners didn't run well because of bouncing. Runners like Cheserek, on the other hand, have more of a mid-foot stride and kind of 'glide' across the course, making XC races like that easier. I guess I was just noting that most freshman can only dream of doing that well at a national meet!
