Davies not looking bad at all.....I must say they were very lucky to tie a loaded century team that played their JV almost the entire game..

Went to the FDavies- WFgo game last night. It is early season, so...
WFgo was solid on D and midfield play mostly, strikers not so much. Goalie barely challenged. Good look may be due to quality of opponent though.
Davies: very tentative play, weak at all parts of the field, worse was goal. Very poor goalie play but still had 2 fabulous saves in 2nd half. They will need a LOT of development to challenge. I mean an Own goal!! Had some strong players to build upon.

Still was nice to get the season started, great night, decent crowd even.

Wf looked good all around and I thought Davies would look better after seeing them tie defending champion Century in the crossover, but it is still early...

The Tuesday and Thursday games in the West are very important in the standings and determining post-season positions. Any predictions?

Although I'm from the east I predict BHS losing a tight one IN MINOT and Century defeating St.Marys as it looks like Century is beginning to show their true potential...( or atleast the hype they have gotten )

Minot High def Bismarck High 1-0 Pk Annan scores 50th career goal for Minot
St Mary's def Bismarck Century 1-0
This really throws a wrench in the WDA standings with the three Bismarcks all with two conference losses and Minot with three.

What the heck? St Mary's victorious over Century and Minot a 1-0 win over Bismarck. What does this all mean. Well to be honest I do not believe it means anything. With league play only menaing what seed you will play in the West region tournament these games have no effect for State. Either way all four will go to State as the top two seeds get automatic bids and byes for the first round of the WDA tournament and the third and fourth place get a warm up match as Jamestown and Mandan are not yet up to task to defeat a third of fourth seed from the West. If they did not have the tournment this would be HUGE. I would not want to be the fourth seed from the West playing the first seed from the East.

I still see this coming out after the tournament

According to the Minot Daily News it was P.K.'s 53rd goal of his career. Supposedly, his 50th goal was obtained at the E/W Crossover in Fargo this past weekend. The announcer just wanted to acknowledge his achievement in Minot.

From what I can tell here are the remaining schedules for the top 4 teams in the West:

BHS - CHS, St. Mary's, Mandan
CHS - BHS, Jamestown, Mandan
Minot - Mandan, Jamestown, St. Mary's
St. Mary's - BHS, Jamestown, Minot

Wins by BHS over CHS and St. Mary's would make them the top team in the West going into the tournament (but that is no easy task). A win by CHS over BHS on Thursday would set CHS up well to be the top team in the West going into the tournament. St. Mary's has 2 difficult games with BHS and then at Minot, but winning both should at least place them in a tie for the top team in the West. Minot needs some help, but they likely have the best opportunity to win their remaining 3 games. An upset win anywhere here by Mandan or Jamestown could even more so cloud the situation. However, as stated by "Insidethebox", the placement of the top 4 teams going into the West Region tournament is of likely much less importance, than the placement of the teams going into the State tournament. However, being 1 of the top 2 in the West going into the West Region tournament is still preferable because then that chance (even if it is a very small chance) of being upset in the opening round is eliminated.

So the next question would be WHAT ABOUT THE EAST????
South holds the lead today 9/19 because they have one game advantage. Shanley should keep ahead of South after they play Central on Thursday. WF is still in the hunt for first in the EDC falling in only two points behind Shanley should the Deacons win the Knights and therfore have a total of 15 points. Your guess is as good as anyone who will end up first as on any given day any of those three can win. Although WF then South having the most Senior players the most experienced play would be Shanley. It comes down to who will want to win it. WF has shown offensive power with the most goals scored overall but is about equal with South for total conference goals 30,31 respectfully. Shanley has the best record (assuming they win at Central) and has a win again WF. So as it is now:

Shanley
South
WF

Now for the last seed, again anybody's guess. Davies seems to be the horse ahead of the back as they have already lapped victories again RR and North and a tie with Central. But you cannot put North out to pasture as they are mathematically still in. RR with a win over Davies Thursday could put them neck and neck again and as it looks like it will be down to the wire for the finish. AND in the EAST league games matter as losers are out of the State tournament. My fourth pick...

Davies

I agree...top 3 are going to be Shanley, South, WF and then the 4th seed will likely be Davies (but both GF schools still have a chance...North's schedule isn't very favorable)

BHS is very young indeed, but on the flipside they faced a CHS team that is stocked with veteran players...WDA will tell the story for the west
