Unfortunetly/ fortunetly the way edc and state are set up- the players with the most rest do well.
minot didnt make it to state when oothoudt won- this year, a player couldn't finish the singles tourney because he had to be given IVs and was in too much pain. If your team makes it far in the team tourney, you could potentially play one match for the team championship (more then likely, a very hard match) then play two more matches that day- on average that would be about 4-5 hours of playing tennis, then they have to wake up early (6:30 or so) to pack up the hotel room, eat and go to the courts to play another 2 matches
if your team plays in the team championship and you play in the singles championship, you would play 7 matches in 3 days, that can be a lot

Yeah both Century and Bismarck are going to be way down this year
Century loses Welk, Roller, Wike, Hofstad, and Jesperson
Bismarck loses Hoeven, Hilsen, and Lange

I wouldn't count out Century as being a state qualifying team next year. They have some decent young players coming up and their coach will have them ready.

Minot and Mandan should be two tough teams from the west.

I heard that a kid from Minot named Tommy Schmidt has loads of potential to be a star. He is a little slow for a tennis player but has a strong forehand serve. And a wicked backhand return.

I know this topic has been going since before this year's tennis season but I would like to throw out a couple names that will surprise in the 2009 edition of ND Class A tennis.
1.Justin Beach
2.Ryan Hoverson
3.Lauren Anderson
4.Hunter Oothoudt
5.Joey Anderson
All five of these players have been playing since the tennis season has ended and look to make a splash next season!
