Who is good in district 4? Could Hillsboro win the region? I thought Thompson was the favorite in the region, but I saw Hillsboro beat them.

yeah Hillsboro beat them but it was also very close in 5 games...so I think its going to be either Thompson or Hillsboro winning that region

North Border or PRFL will take District 4 most likely (leaning towards PRFL). D4 is a bit weaker top-to-bottom than District 3 this year, so I'd expect a repeat of what happened in the region tournament last year - three District 3 teams win the first round with only the top seed from D4 advancing.

Gutsy win by GCC tonight. It seems on any given night any of the top 4-5 teams in District 3 could beat one-another. Should be an interesting finish and a fun district tournament.

Oh, and H-N defeated MPCG 3-1 tonight. Anxious to hear the result of the CV vs. Park River game.

North Border may get the #1 seed out of this district but I would guess Park River would beat North Border in the District tournament. North Border is a very inconsistant team. I would guess that the top five teams in District 3 are better than any team in District 4. That is how weak District 4 is this year.

Anyone have an idea as to why Hillsboro played at the West Fargo JV tournament last weekend? Just curious, as I believe there is a limit to the number of matches/tournaments teams can play and I would think a varsity tournament would be more challenging.

Could have been a trade-off - West Fargo JV played at Hillsboro earlier and this might have been the return game(s). Plus I think that Hillsboro has overachieved on pre-season expectations. They might have thought a JV tournament would fit them better when they did their scheduling last year.

That is from a totally uninformed source - Me. :(

This is the second year that I know of that Hillsboro played in the WFargo JV tourney. The competition against is at least as good or better than any other tournemant in the area. How did they do? Also good to see new faces every now and then.

For the most part, that is Hillsboro's JV. I know of a sophomore and a junior that play some varsity for Hillsboro that were there, but need more playing time. Did the other teams not play sophomores?

Just editing my prior post. I did not attend the tournament and was mis informed and it was Hillsboros varsity. I know Hillsboro has played in this tournament in the past and has competed fairly with the Jv players from the bigger schools.

It looked like their varsity, at least after comparing the NDHSAA website picture/roster to the girls that played on Saturday...I agree, it is good competition, but they obviously had an advantage in big game situations (I'm talking based on watching the championship match) over the fresh/sophomores on the other teams. They are a tough team, so I am anxious to see how the rest of their season pans out!

Just to clear up, it was Hillsboro's varsity playing - at least for the most part. They do bring some JV players that occasionally get some playing time at tournaments. I'm not positive how much they played at the West Fargo JV tourney.

This isn't the first time Hillsboro has played there, as stated above. I'm not aware if the last time they played there was a year or two ago, but they didn't win the tournament before. I think Hillsboro's arrangement with playing the West Fargo JV may be changing next year, after talking to the Hillsboro coach.

Important game coming up Thursday in Hillsboro!

Well, with Hillsboro's victory over H-N, that pretty much sets 1 and 2 in the district with Hillsboro and Thompson. CV and H-N face off Monday to decide 3 and 4.

Also, I think CV's and MPCG's district records are actually off with one-too-many losses. CV and Dakota Prairie played earlier this year, but I believe the district is now in a format where if two district teams play twice in a season, only the latter game counts toward the district record. I heard that from an assistant coach, so take that for what it's worth, but I know on Thompson's schedule it had their game with MPCG as the "counter" tonight, with their previous match-up meaningless. Each team's district record *should* just tally 7 games at the end of the season if I'm not mistaken.

So , I think the locks right now are

1. Hillsboro
2. Thompson
3. Winner of CV/H-N
4. Loser of CV/H-N
5. Griggs County (lost to both CV and H-N)
6. Larimore (done with district play)
7. Dakota Prairie (Beat CV earlier in a game that didn't count?, beat MPCG)
8. MPCG

That would present some interesting match-ups. Griggs County played well at the DLB tourney and took a set off Harvey. I could easily see them upsetting a fourth-seeded CV team (they went to 5 sets in a match earlier this season), and then likely play a Hillsboro team that it beat just the other week.
