So, do you suppose that the regular-season tournaments will still be played, or will it be dual meets only?

WDA cancelled all in-season tournaments, so I would guess that happens to the whole state. Maybe has already.

No word yet from Class B Schools but the dominoes will likely fall

like a normal North Star vs Langdon match on a Tuesday?
The plan would be to allow those matches, would be my guess.

edit: finally understood your question. I would guess there will be no in-season tournaments and dual matches will be set to a fairly low number.

I have a feeling if there is a basketball season they'll limit the schedule.

Going to guess a lot of places will do live streams of games now too to keep the crowd numbers down

I can see them doing only a District schedule or only playing teams in your region. I do not see them big tournaments taking place. Unfortunately, if anything is going to force schools back to distance learning (which ends extra-curriculars) it will be sports with all of their traveling and close contacts.

All but one tournament has been cancelled statewide for 2020; only one that is still tentatively scheduled is the Fargo Invitational (my guess is that if it can be held it will be just the F-M area A & B teams attending)

I would think there would be some schools with multiple gyms that could hold maybe a 4-team tournament with some extra time between matches, best-out-of-five matches. No tournaments at all would mean a major reduction in total playing time.

Many teams are adding games to schedule lately to fill more non-conference area games. No school wants to be the one to have a possible issue (and I don’t blame them).

The one tourney left is in October so plenty of time to see what it’s like by then.

So who are the favorites this year?
I'll take Grafton in region 2. Overall the region graduated a lot of girls. Grafton has made some positive strides the past couple years with their new coach and they'll have more height than anyone.

Northern Cass, Kindred, Richland, Oak Grove, Hankinson all pretty even out of R1
Can’t rule out Thompson in R2, Grafton
Carrington, Linton out of R3
Langdon/EM out of R4
ORCS, Rugby & DLB out of R6

Also, New this year will be a media volleyball poll. No tournaments will make this a bit tougher BUT something I think the State and Sport has needed.

I won't be surprised if Thompson wins region 2 again, they're going to have to break in some new kids this year. Most of their core group that has been dominating the region has graduated.

We should get an early look at the Region 2 favorites, as they play their regular season game on Tuesday in Grafton. Should be a good one, and I believe it is streamed on Grafton's youtube site.

Thompson also gets another early season challenge tonight taking on #1 Langdon tonight. That game is on NFHS network, which is a pay-app.

Kindred is going online for 2 weeks starting tomorrow...so that's 3 VB matches to be PPD and 2 football games that are 'No Contests'
