No idea...Thompson went 2-1 over Langdon this season; I have a feeling coaches just looked at the 41 wins.

Langdon also went 1-1 vs. Northern Cass this season.

I thought it was done off their Qrf rankings on ndscores.net which shows Langdon being number one on how ever they arrive at scoring. There it shows Northern Cass number two and Thompson number 3. I also think coaches look at this plus their records and strength of schedule these teams have played. These 3 of Langdon, Thompson, and Northern Cass would be hard to rank because they all have beaten each other this year. Most of the losses came early in the season so all these teams have improved over the year. Also another thing Langdon tournament wins were some of the bigger tournaments for the state I wonder if this didn't also play in how they were perceived by coaches.

All of that considered, to overlook losses in 6 sets out of 9 in head-to-head competition (and an overall better record) seems like they're trying to outsmart their common sense. They succeeded, IMO.

Regardless, all the remaining seeds seem to be in-line with records and head to head matches. It looks like there will be potential for some great matchups for the tournament. AND... we are guaranteed a new state champion this year!

I was only shocked with Langdon/Thompson seeds...just thought they should be switched. Everything else is how I thought it would end up. Good Luck to all teams

Coaches rank the teams 1-7, not ranking their own team, I believe. What is stopping Langdon from ranking Thompson 7?

Highest and lowest ranking is also thrown out...then they average the remaining ranks.

I don't think Langdon would be that petty just to get a higher seed. They still have to win 3 tough matches no matter what seed they get. Also, I think whoever is looking over the rankings would see what is going on there and do something about it.

This is NOT a comment towards Langdon at all, but if you don't think that some coaches would try to "stack the deck" you're probably wrong. I think if they're going to seed the tournament, use the qrf and seed 1-8. I don't have a problem with using the qrf when it doesn't determine location of the game.

If they throw out the high and low as Run indicated in an earlier post, then one coach wouldn't really be able to manipulate the rankings greatly.

I could see the logic in ranking Langdon 1 and Thompson 2 based on the entire season of work. Langdon did win arguably the two toughest regular season tournaments this year, Valley City and Des Lacs. They may also have had the toughest schedule this year with 12 matches against teams that qualified for the state tournament (9-3) and have beaten every team that has qualified for state with the exception of Center-Stanton, whom they didn't play. They are also ranked 1 in the QRF (which I would assume is based largely on strength of schedule). That being said, I personally would have flipped the top two seeds as well. The rest of the seeding looks pretty well spot on and the random draws actually came out they way I would have seeded them 1 through 8.

QRF needed to be updated...it wasn’t updated since late October...but since it’s not used officially in ND I can see why it wasn’t tended to.

I wondered about that on the QRF as well. The last couple of years the final update had been just prior to the regional tournaments. It would have included two more regulart season games for each of the top three teams and of course all the district tournaments. Would likely have benefitted NC as they beat Oak Grove(#7) in one of those last two games. Langdon beat beat North Star (#15) in one of their last two games. Thompson would not have improved imo with either of their last two wins. Oakes may have moved up with their run through the dist. 5 tournament with wins over Lamoure (#9) and Carrington (#5). End of the day it doesn't really matter as you said Run as ND does not use the QRF for anything in VB.

They are streaming both classes, but depending on what kind of cable TV you have you might only get one of the channels. Luckily where I live we get both of those channels. I am in DRN country and Class A was on Channel 104, which is considered their Bek Sports channel and Class B was on channel 195 or 196 which is considered their Bek Sport Plus channel. Their website tells what channels they are on.

I give credit to BEK for covering EVERY game, both on TV and on-line. But I loose the webcast stream quite often -- saying 'this live event has ended'. I have to refresh the page to get back to the game.

For the most part I was happy to get to watch the volleyball tournament. We could get A on our dish service but not the b which I watched on the computer some. Class a had much more competitive games in the first round then did the b. Will the b get more competitive now in the semifinals. Also it looks like the east is dominate in class b volleyball this year and seems to have been that way for some time can anyone explain why this is.

Semi-final games in Class B will be great games, the first round was a snoozer. I'm not sure why the West has been down in Class B volleyball, has been that way for awhile. The East has Regions that are really competitive so I think that helps them be prepared for the big stage. Class A games were fun to watch, but will anyone be able to stop Lauren Ware and Century?!? I think Century gets its 4th in a row.
