I think Benson (Hankinson) also good consideration from Region 1...also Marley Holt (OG) has been solid too.

I agree Mehus should win, but some others that Could be in contention are the Park River girls(I think Dahlby and Zavalney are having the best seasons) and Emily Swanson from DVE hit 2000 assists early this season.

Shelby Roney from Oakes won District 5 SOY figured it would be a toss up between her and Nelson from Carrington, so she should win SOY for Region 3.

Yeah, you never know, considering last year she had 1,100 assists on the season and still didn't even get voted all-region. The fact FSHP swept both PR and DVE should count for something as well. Should be interesting.

Katja Berge from HCV been doing well, but seems a little inconsistent. Puts up huge numbers one game and the next doesn't seem to be able to get anything going.

Do you know that she was nominated?

I didn't think she got many opportunities the one match I saw her play. She can jump out of the gym.

Region 1- I do think Mauch is a great athlete but didn't have much to work with this year. Hankinson has a couple outstanding seniors Benson and Steinwehr. Setters don't get the glory and she surpassed 3,000 assists this year. Benson is a beast

From Region 1 I do agree that Mauch is outstanding but W/L didn't have much help. They have some athletes but young kind of like Nudell in GBB last season. She will do well as a Bison. Holt is strong & solid & is in conversation. Another one is Ringdahl front Richland. Really good all-around player, but I may be biased but I think Steinwehr deserves it. 3000+ assists, 2 trips to state. Really controls the floor. Again, I may be biased, just my opinion.

All good choices and good athletes. One that's being missed because she's somewhat unassuming is Madison Erickson out of kindred. A quiet assassin. 350 to 400 kills for the year and has had the team on her back for two years. Head-to-head she's held up just fine against Mauch and Benson with the stats to prove it. She's lead her team into the championship of region 1. She's quiet so she doesn't get much notice.

Mehus making a case for the award so far in the Region tournament. Averaging 15 kills, 29.5 assists, 14.5 digs 2 blocks and 3 aces per match.

Should be a great final with FSHP vs. Park River for the 2nd straight year.

Needless to say, but Region 1 is full of capable Senior talent and leadership! They've all been named and each are having outstanding Senior seasons!!
