Who do you have Run? I trust your judgement. Sad that the top 2 teams in the state have to play each other in Region 3. That's going to be a heck of a match.

I'd rank M/PB even with Langdon at #2; LaMoure would be my #1.

R1 - Central Cass - Northern Cass has played very scrappy and this will be a better matchup then during season when CC rolled them in 3
R2 - Thompson - Tommies won 3-0 during season...this one will be better and will likely go 4
R3 - Won't pick this...I think they are even teams and it could go either way...should go 5
R4 - Langdon/E/M - in 3...Langdon is just too good for this region
R5 - Center-Stanton - in 5...should be a fun match
R6 - Our Redeemer's - but would love to see Rugby go so someone new from that Region goes to State
R7 - Dickinson Trinity - same as R6...but I think Trinity is the better team
R8 - Kenmare - upset in Districts...avenged that loss last night...I think they'll take down the Wolves in 4

How are Region tournament host sites determined? Some of these Region 3 teams have over 2 hour drives. Seems odd that a more central location wouldn’t be chosen. Heard Carrington wasn’t home until 1 a.m. last night.

Many of them are on a rotation within the region...but someone always has a long trip.

What hurts Region 3 is that the games are televised and you have media timeouts...which drags out each match; so a 4 match day can get REALLY long with close matches.

I think your assessment is spot on. Not sure why they picked Hazelton this year for Region 3, usually rotates between the east and west teams. But usually west has been Wishek or Napoleon. Crowd wasn't very good being all the way out there either.

You’re exactly right. Crowds were very small. A couple years ago it was held in Jamestown at the high school. The new UJ complex would be a great host site. Undeniably a disadvantage for a team to get 6 hours of sleep then sit on a bus for a little over 2 hours.

I thought Jamestown was a great host site that year. Not sure why they only did it the one year. They do basketball there every year so why not VB? After this tournament I doubt it will ever be back in Hazelton.

Bek has been doing this region for the last 5 years, I've went to every region tournament, by far the worst turnout I've ever seen, yes it could be because its on tv, but also because of the location.

Region 3 will have Linton and Hazelton as part of the rotation, they won't give this up because the boys regional is always in Jamestown.

Ted 98.3 has been doing it but I know last night they were having horrible internet problems in Hazelton so it kept cutting in and out, some sets were missed altogether. Hopefully they get it figured out for championship night.

The region tournament should be in one of the towns in the region, not Jamestown, it's bad enough they gave the region girls basketball to Jamestown. Rotate between the two districts in the region.

REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
R1: #1 Central Cass (28-11-1) vs. #2 Northern Cass (24-7)- Central Cass 3-1
R2: #1 Thompson (31-6) vs. #3 Park River-FL (25-9)- Thompson 3-1
R3: 5-1 LaMoure-LM (40-1) vs. 6-1 Medina/Pingree-Buchanan (35-3) Lamoure 3-1
R4: #1 Langdon/E/M (38-3) vs. #2 North Star (26-9) Langdon 3-0
R5: #1 Center-Stanton (33-6) vs. #2 Shiloh Christian (31-4) Center Stanton 3-2
R6: 11-1 Rugby (32-3) vs. 12-1 Our Redeemer's (35-7) Rugby 3-1
R7: #1 Dickinson Trinity (33-8) vs. #3 Heart River (19-14) Trinity 3-0
R8: 15-1 Watford City (26-10) vs. 16-3 Kenmare (32-10) Kenmare 3-0

Here's my uneducated stab at things. Region 3 is easily the toughest region in the state, 2 of the 3 best teams in the state playing (and I think Carrington could win a lot of other regions). I know everyone is expecting a 5 set match, and it probably will be, but I'm going with my gut.

Regional Picks (or passes)
1 - Tough one to call. CC won the earlier match-up 3-0 but NC has been on a bit of a roll since. Think I have to give the edge to CC but wouldn't be surprised to see the Jags pull it out.
2 - Another tough one to call. Here again Thompson won earlier in a sweep. Both teams were tested on Tuesday with PRFL coming back from 0-2 to beat MPCG in the semis. Thompson dropped the first set to DVE in the semis before winning 3-1. I would give Thompson the edge but would not consider it a huge upset if PRFL won the match.
3 - Pick-um. I would consider Lamoure the favorite but MPB is on a roll and has proven they can beat Lamoure. MPB is battle tested with the 5-setter against Carrington in the semis. Winner of this should be the #1 seed at state (Lamoure without a doubt, MPB by virtue of 2-consecutive wins over Lamoure although some may consider head to head against Langdon if both are in the tournament).
4 - Langdon - Would be a huge upset if they don't go.
5 - I think I go with Shiloh in this one. Center-Stanton leads the season series 2-1 but the one match Shiloh won was in a tournament at Shiloh and the regional is in Shiloh. C-S does have the tournament experience from last year so that might be enough to put them over the top but I think I still go with the Skyhawks at home.
6 - Interesting matchup with ORCS and Rugby. Rugby is 32-3 but I still go back to their schedule. ORCS is down a bit from the previous two years but has been on a nice run since dropping two matches at Des Lacs, including a sweep at Dickinson Trinity. Have to go with ORCS in this one.
7 - Gotta go with Trinity in this one although Heart River is coming off of consecutive sweeps of Killdeer and Hazen. Trinity is pretty battle tested this year, however, and I think that schedule will help carry them through.
8 - Giving the slight edge to Watford in this one but here again would not consider it an upset if Kenmare knocks them off. The only losses Watford has to class B schools are to Medina, Langdon, Trinity, and DLB. They have played a pretty good schedule and do have a win over Kenmare at the DLB tourney.

State seed based on above
1 - Lamoure or MPB (based on two consecutive wins over Lamoure)
2 - Langdon
3 - Our Redeemer
4 - Trinity
5 - Thompson
RD - Central Cass (close between them and Thompson)
RD - Shiloh
RD - Watford City

LLM over MPB 4-1... one team looked nervous, the other looked like they’d been there a few times. :)

R4: Langdon/Edmore/Munich (39-3)
R5: Shiloh Christian (32-4)

My Guess on Seedings
1. LaMoure-LM
2. Langdon/Edmore/Munich
3. Thompson
4. Our Redeemer's
5. Central Cass
Random Seeds: Dickinson Trinity, Watford City & Shiloh Christian

In the end, there will be 1 very good team not getting a seed...which makes for an interesting random draw. Thompson, ORCS, CC & DT are all very even teams; Watford City & Shiloh are a step back IMHO.

Region favorites? educated guesses on most of these
R1: Northern Cass, Oak Grove, Richland (maybe? beat LLM this weekend)
R2: Thompson, Park River
R3: a poster mentioned Oakes and LLM
R4: gotta be Langdon isn't it?
I won't even begin to guess on the west.

Ordered by my thoughts...
R1: Northern Cass, Central Cass, Oak Grove, Richland, Kindred, Enderlin
R2: Thompson, Park River-FL (don't think there are any other teams)
R3: Carrington, Oakes, LaMoure-LM, Medina/PB, Linton-HMB
R4: Langdon/Edmore/Munich, North Star (BIG gap)
R5: Center-Stanton, Shiloh Christian, Flasher
R6: Our Redeemer's, Des Lacs-Burlington, Bishop Ryan, Rugby
R7: Dickinson Trinity, Hettinger-Scranton, Killdeer, Glen Ullin-Hebron
R8: Stanley, Ray, Kenmare

Maybe these issues can't be fixed, but a few things with the scores.net site. I see 2 Dakota Prairie pages
http://northdakota-scores.net/teamsched ... 0&tid=6915 - missing the Grafton tournament

http://northdakota-scores.net/teamsched ... &tid=12303 - only has the Grafton tournament

Larimore has a tie, but when you look through the results I don't see any ties.
http://northdakota-scores.net/teamsched ... &tid=12305

Similar with Beach, they have 3 ties, but I only find 1.

R1: Seems to be a 4 team race between: Oak Grove, Northern Cass, Central Cass & Richland
R2: Thompson seems to be rolling...no one is close to them yet.
R3: Oakes looks to be the favorite right now...can't count out L-LM, Carrington, Linton-HMB or Nap/GS
R4: Langdon/E/M hands down...no one is close!

Looking at some of the tournaments scores, it looks like there is good parity between to the top teams in the state. It'll be interesting to see how the scores from Des Lacs this coming weekend turn out. That tournament seems to always be a good barometer of the strength of the top teams state-wide.

Agreed with the above posts - Region 1 will be a dog fight, Thompson could control their own destiny in Region 2 (Mayville I think has biggest spoiler opportunities), Another good batch of talented teams in Region 3, and Region 4 is an absolute snoozer.
