Anyone at the tourney have any insights to what you expect from today's games, or from yesterday's? Looking for anything other than "holding the tourney in Minot ducks".

It blows, actually.

Langdon and Our Redeemers.

A will be interesting.

So you don't think Hankinson or LaMoure have much of a shot tonight?

Of course they have a shot. As long as the bus gets them there on time, they have a shot.

I feel Langdon and Our Redeemers are the teams that will win.

Our Redeemers is the clear favorite in their match. Langdon Hankinson will be interesting. Picking against Langdon in a state tournament is tough to do.

Red River took Shanley to 5 early in the season and is playing their best ball of the year, which I think makes that match a toss up. Davies and Century will be excellent. One would take Century, but the east was better than the west this year, and Davies has something to prove after losing the EDC final.

So again, Langdon and Our Redeemers, A will be interesting, and the tournament is still in Minot.

Try not to be all butt hurt because someone picks a team to win.

Well I see nothing wrong with d_fense's question. Langdon vs. Hankinson should be a good match tonight and likely the better of the two semifinal matches. ORCS should be the clear favorite vs. LaMoure.

My Predictions for A & B:
Hankinson in slight upset in 5
ORCS wins in 4

Shanley wins in 4
Davies over Century in 5 (should be a great match!)

These are the State Semifinals and fittingly we do have the top 4 teams in the State in each class competing tonight.

I agree the 4 best teams were in the finals as far as Class B is concerned. Gotta give kudos to Langdon, they were on their game tonight. Hankinson just didn't have the size & played defense most of the night but fought hard. With Asp playing only about 65% Pirates just didn't have the answer. I did mess up tho & left after Our Redeemers went up 2-0. Bet that was great finish.
My guess would be Langdon in 4 but the pressure will be on them. The Class A final should be a good one too. Congrats to ALL the teams that made it. Overall, at least the first 2 days, I thought things went better than last year. IMO

Wow take a second to pull your panties out Heimer....

It doesn't matter who anyone picks to win. Personally I wouldn't go to a state volleyball tourney if it was in my local gym unless I had a blood relative playing. I just saw the scores (B) from the first day and saw that the 4 ranked teams won easily. You picked the number one and two teams. I thought maybe there is a clear difference in all the teams at the tournament and the semifinals would be as lop sided as the quarterfinals. Watching the news last night, that obviously was not the case.

All the media must assign their 'B' team for State Volleyball. The NFHS webcast had the scores reversed for at least the first part of the Langdon-Hankinson match, The Grand Forks Herald had first 4 set scores reversed for LaMoure-O.R., and the MinotTournaments website had Our Redeemers winning set 5 over LaMoure.

How, out of my post, did you get that I believed either of these teams didn't have much of a shot?

Typical Northdakotapreps response. I write less than one complete sentence (pertaining to the portion of my post that predicted winners in the B matches), and you read several paragraphs into that.

I predicted winners. I never said anything about how much of a chance anyone had.

I'm admittedly surprised about Lamoure, although, in hindsight, I probably should have given their region more credit, as Linton, Napoleon, Carrington, and others typically play good volleyball. They were ready, and no one is more tickled that a private major-metro school has been ousted from title contention.

Langdon had set point on Hankinson in the first, and that could have easily been a sweep. There is a difference between these two teams (now watch, d_fense will see that and read into it that I think Hankinson not cool, which, of course I never said, as they qualified from Region 1 against the likes of Oak Grove, Central Cass, Kindred, you know, half a dozen A teams masquerading as B teams).

As far as your comment about not attending state volleyball, that's your loss, even in Minot.

Did LaMoure have any seniors that saw significant playing time? I listened off-and-on, and it seemed like every name I heard was a Soph or Jr.

LaMoure has 5 seniors who all played but not the full rotation. Their 3 best players are sophomores. They will be tough for the next couple years and there will be another Holen playing next year. Have to tip your hats to them, they were the smallest team there but their defense was stellar.
