North Star's first trip to state
Posted: Fri Nov 14, 2014 1:32 amNS consistently has a very good volleyball team for many years, but were never able to break through in the Regions until tonight. We had beaten Langdon twice before this year, but we had beaten them in the regular season/district tourney several times in the past -- and they would always have our number if we met in the regions.
But not tonight. This was the first best-of-five match all year that North Star didn't win in three straight. NS won games 1, 3 and 5. Games 2,3 and 4 were decided by 2 points. Extremely intense !
Congratulations to Marla Hagler -- Coach of the Year, Sarah Hagler -- Player of the year, and Sarah Hagler, Macey Kvilvang, Faith Krom and Taylor Krom for making all-region team. And of course, congrats to the entire team. Some years we've played with 7 or maybe 8 players. This year, nine players were rotating through the lineup. Only one of those 9, only one is a senior, 3 are juniors, the rest are Sophs or Freshmen. It was great that they could come through in such a pressure situation.
