Will be interesting to see who gets the top 4 spots at the seeding this morning. I think Northern Cass is #1, and Thompson is #2, but it gets a little fuzzy from there as Carrington beat LaMoure during the year, but LaMoure comes in at 3 and Carrington 5 based on Run's formula. Getting one of those seeds is a pretty big deal...

Mine are similar: We'll know for sure in about an hour...

Northern Cass
Thompson
LaMoure
Carrington
Beulah and Grant Co. is a toss up.

The unknown here will be how the coaches see the East vs. West. Don't think you will have 4 West coaches voting 1-4 as east teams...We'll see shortly. One of the West teams could very easily end up in the #3 or #4 spots. I do think #1 and #2 are no brainers. #3 and #4 are toss ups .

I like the concept of seeding teams, I just don't think having the coaches do the voting is the best method. I'd rather see them adopt a formula like Run's if they are going to start seeding State Tourney's. I do see this as step in the right direction though.

Top 3 I think are clear-cut (probably Thompson, NC, Lamoure...in that order). #4 spot could essentially be any of the other teams.

I think even a small committee would work for the seeding...get 5 or 6 people that follow VB closely. We'll see how well this year's system works. I'm just not sure how closely some coaches from the west follow the east and vice versa.

Well no complaints on the Top 4 seeds...#1 & #2 were interchangeable IMO. First match between Thompson & Stanley could be a classic.

Agreed...I think it worked out pretty well. The only thing that made me believe Carrington MIGHT have gotten a 3 is the fact they beat LaMoure during the year and their (Carrington's) losses were to some pretty good teams (3 to Casselton), but so were LaMoures. In the end, it appears to have worked out fine.

I agree, a seeding committee would work better than having the coaches vote but ultimately, would love to see a rating system if they are going to continue seeding.

Are they going to try this for BB?

I know for sure BBB & GBB...not sure on Baseball

honestly this was my QVF ranking from before Regions:
1. Northern Cass (25-5) 276.6
2. Thompson (31-4) 264.7
3. LaMoure (29-3) 238.9

4. Beulah (20-12) 206.6
5. Carrington (25-6) 206.1

6. Grant County (24-4) 202.0
7. Stanley (28-9) 198.5
8. Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood (21-8) 179.9

Looks pretty similar :)

That's why I'd like to see them adopt some type of formula. Even though it appears as though the coaches got it right, (assuming anyone could've gotten the #4 spot) I can see issues in the future with the coaches voting. Eliminate the human emotion element and the system would be better off. It would also encourage AD's to put a little more thought into scheduling.

Well after a little research...they are doing this same system for Boys BB, Girls BB & Baseball this year.

we'll see how this year goes with the other 3 sports using this system and see if things work out. I'd have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at how well things were done in the seedings for VB. Now to get to the tourney :)
