The question I have with some of these teams is if they are committed to the Babe Ruth Tournament or will they be playing in the Legion Regional Tournaments also? I know a couple years ago, Thompson struggled when they had players missing because of Legion.
I think the Shwabe kid that is Babe Ruth age played and I think pitched Legion today? Correct me if I'm wrong.

What was the Thompson score? Does anyone know who was missing for them?

Thompson won big on the legion side. They are in to the state tournament. The babe ruth players that play legion will be back to the Babe Ruth tourney guaranteed .

No games today. Next round scheduled for noon tomorrow (Sunday). Grounds crew has some work to do. Field is a mess. An already saturated field just got a bunch more water poured on it...

Carrington and Park River will play for the State Championship tomorrow at 10 am. Carrington will have to beat Park River twice.

Who did Carrington pitch in their games against Thompson and Carrington?

Fresh PR pitchers. Beating them twice will be tough.

Carrington rallied late in the first one but came up short 5-3. They threatened in the 7th with guys on 2nd and 3rd with one out and the heart of the order up, but couldn't get that last hit. Congrats to both teams...

Can someone explain to me why the Class "B" 13-15 year old teams can not advance to a Regional Tournament , but an all 15 year old team from Bismarck advances to the 13-15 year old regional? If you read the rule book, it states that you need to have certain percentage of players so that the team is not stacked. If there is one thing that I don't like in ND Babe Ruth is how the "A" towns get all the opportunities to advance and the "B" towns get nothing. This group of kids that won from Park River played in the ND State Class "A" 12U tournament in 2013. They ended up getting 3rd out of 13 teams. Their 2 losses cam to GF who eventually advanced to the World Series. This same group also tried to compete in the "A" 13 yr. old tournament two years ago in Williston and was told that they couldn't because there were 2 players that started on the Babe Ruth team. They couldn't be in two advancing tournaments, but I really wouldn't consider the class "B" state tournament advancing. There will be other class "B" teams that are talented, so why not give them an opportunity to advance.

Here's how I understand it Rivershark:

In BR, there are advancing tournaments for 13 year old teams, 14 year old teams and 15 year old teams. There is also an advancing tournament for 13-15 but in that tournament you are limited to 3? 15 year olds. So in your situation PR would have to either be all 15 year olds or go by the limited rules for 13-15 (which they wouldn't qualify) I'm guessing the 15 year old team you speak of, advanced to the "15 year old regional", not the 13-15 year old regional. The Bismarck 14 year old team is also playing in a regional tournament and is 3-0, 10 running all three opponets.

This is only how I understand how the system works. If someone else close to BR baseball can confirm or debunk my thoughts have at it. There simply isn't an advancing regional BR tournament that fits rural ND.

If look on this site

https://www.baberuthleague.org/tourname ... ments.aspx

you will see that there is no 15 year old level. The 13-15 Midwest Plains Regional is in Burlington Colorado and the North Dakota Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Facebook page says that the Bismarck 15's are playing in it. I'm also wondering why the North Dakota Babe Ruth site doesn't even list a 13-15 advancing state tournament.

I would've loved to see Park River (or Carrington or Thompson for that matter) play in an advancing Babe Ruth Tournament this year. The 14 year old Bismarck team that Carrington split with this year is playing in the Babe Ruth 14 Year Old World Series Championship game tonight against a Cali team out in Mass...No doubt PR could've competed in the Regional Tournaments.

Class "B" Babe Ruth teams do have the option of competing, but they have to play in the 15 year old tournament. ND Babe Ruth makes no effort to promote this option to the smaller towns. If Park River would have known that all you have to do is place 2nd and you advance to the Regionals, they probably would have competed. There were only 6 teams in the State Tournament and half them advanced to the World Series. It would have been a nice gesture if the state allowed the class "B" champs to advance. Over the last 4 years the Park River team is 3-0 against West Fargo, 2-0 against Williston, and 1-1 against Bismarck. That's not saying they would have won, but they definitely can compete with them.
