Anyone know the season records for these teams? Also wondering if you count 5 inning tournament games as an actual game. The 4-3 Beulah win over Park River was actually tied after 5 innings. The 6th inning consisted of flipping the umpires indicator (which Beulah won) and putting a running on 2nd base. Neither teams scored. The 7th inning consisted of flipping the indicator again (which Beulah won) and putting a runner on 3rd with no outs. Beulah scores, game over. No chance for PR. Maybe should put an asterisk behind that win.

I have no problem with the put a guy on 2nd and third. BUT the other team should get that chance IMO not a sudden death. Terrible way to end a baseball game!! No chance for the other team. That is NOT Baseball.

Here's a few that I've seen:

Northern Cass 20-8
Thompson 19-2
Carrington 22-1
Lewis and Clark 16-7
Beulah 26-2

Can't answer about the 5 inning thing. The tournament that I watched had the 5 inning rule with extra innings both teams had the opportunity with a guy automatically put on second. Odd that they would make it "sudden death" in your example.

Casselton/Enderlin has had that sudden death for years, strict 5 innings or 90 minutes gets you to the sudden death rounds. Keeps tournaments going and not holding up other games, it's a great run tournament. And yes that win counts and I'm sure gets factored into the seeding.

Just don't think that sudden death and baseball go together. Fans travel a great distance for this tournament to see some good competition. They deserve to see a real baseball game.

If you can't score with a man on third to start the inning then maybe it should be sudden death if you don't score also? Most teams will put a ball in play and score the man on third, so I think the other team should have a chance. IMO. The first extra inning with a guy on second wasn't sudden death I don't think.

At the enderlin/casselton exhibition all extra innings are sudden death. The thing means nothing other than a guaranteed 5 innings against solid competition.

Don't know their names but Central Mclean's Ace I'd like to see throw, as well as the Ace from Thompson I've heard he is very good

Some players to watch:
Central McLean- Hunter Jacobs
Beulah- Alec Battest, Mikey Morris
Rugby- Evan Burckhard
Carrington- Braxton Hewitt
Lewis & Clark/Parshall- Dawson Brown (don't think this team has a standout, but they can play very well as a team)

My prediction would be:
1. Carrington
2. Park River
3. Beulah
4. Thompson
5. Northern Cass
6. Central Mclean
7. Lewis & Clark/Parshall
8. Rugby

The top 4 could go any way depending on pitching but baseball is funny game somebody puts together good pitching performance and timely hitting anybody can win baseball game so it could be complete surprise who wins this tournament. I don't think anybody is dominant but Carrington is pretty deep but can be beat if they run in good pitching.

Does anyone have a list of the all tournament team? How about an all state team? Last year they announced the all tournament team at the end of the tournament if I remember correctly. All state team may not be announced until it reaches the press?

Congrats to Thompson! Well coached team. And they know how to win and lose with class. Cant say the same for Beulah. I saw a couple cheap shots to the first baseman from PRFL when he got them out. Obvious elbows. Cheap shots!! PRFL has a rivalry with Thompson but PRFL was cheering for Thompson over Beulah!! Nice close out by Calen Shwabe!! Well Done!!

Friday night when the PRFL Beulah game got postponed from the rain, the PRFL helped unroll the infield tarp and get it positioned. The Beulah team packed their bags and left.

After seeing everyone play twice and several of the teams three times over the weekend, here's my take-away on the top 4:

*Thompson - The best team this weekend won. Well coached, with kids with a very high baseball IQ. Very young, they will be back.

*Beulah - They had the appearance of a college baseball team but after watching them 3 times, I'm not so sure they just aren't a bunch of great athletes playing baseball. Very big, physical bunch of guys. You can definitely tell a majority are upper classman.

*Carrington - Finished about where they stacked up. VERY YOUNG team. At times, 4 freshman and a sophomore on the field. Good baseball IQ. Prediction: They are going to probably tangle with Thompson near the championship of the Babe Ruth State Tournament. We will see these two teams battle at State in High School Baseball for at least 3 more years.

*Park River - Had a hard time getting a read out of this bunch. They struggled on the mound and past their "Big 2" baseball talent appeared to drop off fast. I was disappointed as I had them picked much stronger than they played.

Overall, a decent tournament. The seeds were close as the 4 best teams got the seeds but after watching the teams play, they finished how they should've been seeded. No really over powering pitching but some solid performances none the less. Really no big hitting performances either. (I mean no deep balls or near home runs) Good tournament at a great venue. I was a little disappointed they went to 5 inning games the last day for consolation championship and 3rd and 4th. Completely unnecessary IMO.

Saturday morning before the PRFL team arrived the Beulah team helped take the tarp off the field.
