What's up with Ebert quitting Post 2?  What's behind that story?:shock:

now that Ebert is done, will Fargo still make the state tournament?

Yes they have wahp  west fargo n jamestown in there conference so there is a very good chance they will make it to state

Come tournament time, when teams can line up their pitching, no one else in the east can compete with Grand Forks's 1-2-3 punch of Spies, Potter, and Kreis. 

Fargo will still easily make it to state, but may have slipped below GF with the loss of their ace.  Head to head this year Spies and Kreis combined for a 10 inning 3-hitter to beat Ebert, and Schockman shut down GF in the second game, so anything can happen.

I don't know where you were but Ebert did not lose to Spies and Kreis.  He threw 8 and 2/3 innings and didn't give up an earned run.  He ended with a no decision

You're correct, I should have said Fargo, not Ebert.  Sorry Spartan21.

That's a mean thing to say.  What if the catcher sees that?

By the way, Fargo's run was unearned too.

I wouldn't go out and say that Fargo is just going to walk all over these teams considering the fact that Wahpeton split with Fargo and Jamestown had 2 close games with Fargo into the six in each games with Ebert and Hanson pitching against them.  We will see what happens.

 

Is Ebert playing anywhere or is he just done?

I heard he was playing amateur ball in Moorhead, but I could be wrong.

Ebert didn't like the coach beause he said he only pitched once every two weeks, he also thought that he should have been playing first base when he wasnt pitching. He is playing for Moorheads amatuer baseball team.

Hats off the Fargo Post 2 for winning the Eastern Division Regular season title, couldn't have done it with the expertise of their coach Mr. Ibach.  Its really sad that people around the area trully believe that he is a good coach.  Over the last six years of his coaching tenure for Post 2, just ask a number of his former players and I'm sure many with will tell you a very different story.   He has done nothing but ruin baseball in the Fargo area, nothing but a surly, selfish coach who has benefited tremendosly from a plethora of talent.  ANY joe blow coach could come in a coach these kids to a state championship every year, but some how this guy manages to fail miserably.  How could any coach who has a three year all-state and MVP of the Eastern high school league, Co-MVP of a state tournament not play him?  Anyhow just thought I would put in an input of the real story of the Fargo Legion Team. 

It could be argued Coach Fiechtner abused [url=#]Ebert's[/url] arm in the HS season.  77 innings pitched, 65 in the regular season is absurd.   Other top pitchers in the state like Lundy and Landry threw about 35 innings in the regular season.  Most good pitchers get around 50 innings in the HS  season.

Ebert pitched against GF Central during the regular season on a Tuesday after throwing 7 innings at at tournament on Saturday, and it showed.  Why would a coach do that?  Hats off to  Coach Ibach who is using a lot more sensible approach with four other good pitchers on the staff.  I'd rather go into tournaments with 4 or 5 fresh arms than an ace with a tired or injured arm. 

Hats off to the Fargo Legion team, they did it right!  No sarcasm in this compliment.

 

It's the same with the Governors.  Wentz threw pretty much every other game for Century during the high school season.  He's gotten plenty of rest this summer and has only made a few starts and has mainly came in relief. 

Your right! Hats off to coach Ibach, good job of keeping the leader of your team on the bench and pitching him every 2 weeks.  I guess he must know something that the rest of us don't know.

WELL IT WORKED DIDNT IT fargos talent is deffinatly not at such a high level that anyone could coach them to victory and not only that the kid from WF is a much better first baseman than ebert

the kid from WF plays for WF legion team not Fargo Post 2 so they don't have him playing first.

fiechtner did not throw ebert too much. The regular season game against central was not lost by the pitcher, but by the catcher who allowed the runner on first to advance to third via passed balls twice. And i know firsthand that Ibach did not use Ebert wisely while he had him. The day before Post 2 left to go to Omaha...(plenty of scouts)..he threw Ebert against moorhead, a pointless move that just shows how much respect he had for Tom. There are a number of other incidents that occured between Ebert and Ibach that wouldve made any baseball mind scratch thier heads and say....WHY?? the kid is going to get you 1 or 2 victories come playoff time and you treat him like you dont want him??

The poor catcher from North sure gets a lot of blame.  The 5 or 6 walks against Central must have been his fault too.  Ebert was not sharp that game,  That was a tired arm on short rest.

i think anyones arm would hurt after 77 plus innings during 1 hs season that is terriable people were complaining about wentz and he had like 55 tops
