I just started this topic to see with WDA and EDA right around the corner..which teams will be advancing and which teams will be sent home. What are your thoughts?

I know nothing about the EDC, I will take a stab at the west:

1. Williston

2. Minot

3. Century

4. Bismarck

I feel Willy is playing the best now, without Lundy on the mound Minot is very beatable, Century can be as good or bad as anybody, Bismarck will not go away quietly (if Oly has anything to say about it), no matter how much it pains me to say it I also think Dicky could make some noise, I really do not feel they are terribly good but their coach always gets them to play over their head. Mandan is not deep enough, the longer they have to play the poorer their chances should be. St. Mary's leaves me a little confused, they pound Century then drop a cruscher to Beulah. It seems as if they score 15 runs a game with 15 hits or 0 runs with 2 hits, no real consistancy.

Just my opinion.... read it an weep!!!!

Im not going to predict yet its tough to tell as of now because the wda seedings have not been set.

WDA seeds are done except for SMCHS and Mandan, if SM beats BHS tomorrow it will go to a tie breaker between Mandan and SM for the 5th and 6th seed.

No if SM beats BHS then we will be 9-7.  Mandan is 8-8.

I'm goin out on a limb and saying Minot, Williston, Dickinson and St. Marys are goin to state

I believe WDA will look something like this:
1) Minot v. 8) Beulah
2) Williston v. 7) Bismarck
3) Century v. 6) Mandan
4) Dickinson v. 5) St. Mary's

I only see Minot and Williston being for-sures, along with Beulah being the only for-sure not going to make it.  Both Century and Dickinson won't make it, one of the lower bracket teams will fill one spot, if not maybe even both.  Depending on what happens earlier in the tourney, Mandan and St. Mary's could be fighting for that one spot.  Bismarck may make an attempt, but I don't see them going to the third day.

It's going to be tough for Mandan to make it through the 3 day tourney with no pitching, thats why I dont see them making state.  It will be tough on that third day for Century too.  But with their hitting Century will still probably make it.

Good Luck to St. Marys too.  It's gonna be hard to make it to state with not a lot of pitching also.

Well we still have one of the top pitchers in WDA.  And a better rotation than you guys. I wasnt bashing you guys or anything I was just stating a good opinion.

Mandan also has one of the top pitchers in the WDA (Borr).  And I wasn't bashing you guys either, just stating that if Mandan is gonna have trouble then so is St. Marys.  You have no better of a rotation than Mandan does.  Both rotations are about 3 maybe 4 deep....max

i think the only team in wda that is 4 solid pitchers deep is minot.

mandan saint marys chs bhs dicky willistonare all only 2 pitchers deep with an occasional 3rd and a couple of them are questionable with 3 but by pitcher we mean someone who wont get shelled right because if we arent than every team is probly 9 deep

So now that the tournament is nearing, who will be throwing for each team on their first days, do you throw your ace? or do you keep him for the 2nd game? let me hear your thoughts...

Depends on how deep your pitching is.  I believe most teams will not throw their ace the first day.

hm..interesting, I hear a lot of teams save their aces for 2nd games cause thats a must win, but then again every coach isnt the same.

Some teams throw their ace for a few innings the first game and then again for a few in the third but I think that second game is the most important since you are either facing elimination or trying to qualify for state.  So I want my best pitcher in that game
