UConn wrote:wow...it looks like century does not miss 4 year starter brian schmidt....schmidt was obviously a mediocre player at best, but century's sophs and juniors defintely have played well and are amazing..i dont even think schmidt wouldve start for them this year haha, but that isn't saying much considering how bad he was last spring...this team is young, dangerous and not afraid of anyone...with wentz and allen on the hill, they can go a lonnnng way

Schmidt was one of the best hitters in the state last year, don't even try to say he was "mediocre at best."  That kid could absolutely crush the ball.

Everyone loves to see Minot lose in baseball. This is true. Minot baseball teams love to know because that is what drives them to be so dominate every year.

Brian Schmidt was the best hitter on the Century baseball team and was far from a mediocre player. I think you need to look at the stats a little better UConn.

schmidt had a very good career, but he didn't have a schmidt-like year last year. he couldnt pitch for much of the season due to arm troubles, and his hitting wasnt as good as you might think wenzel. He only hit about .310, which is good, but not Schmidt-like.

Just by implying that a .310 isn't schmidt-like, you just prove that he was a great player.  And his stats aren't what made him such a great hitter.  Bill Meuller won the AL batting title a couple years back, but i wouldnt even consider him top 4-5 on that roster.  Schmidt may have only bat .310 as you claim, but i saw on more than one account where he put away a team with a crushing HR or double.  He was aobut as clutch as they come.

exactly. i wasn't disagreeing with you. and when mueller won the batting title, i think you'd probably have to consider him top for or 5 on the roster.

We were told that we got 7th period off and we left after 6th and we had a substitute and she marked us both unexcused and so we were unable to play the games. It was just a miscommunication. We are able to play all of our other games.

the dynasty:

Minot is so dominant every year because they have the numbers to draw from. They should be in the top three each year or they should consider the year a failure. For all of the dominance you say Minot has.... I am curious.... How many state high school baseball tourneys have they won?.... Is it ONE!.... Two?.... One is what I believe to be the correct number. The dominance of a regular season can only be overshadowed by the reality of a habitually underachieving team when it really counts, at the end of the season.

I believe the correct answer is two.  I thought Minot won their first state high school title one year when the tournament was held in Bismarck (but that may have been before class A baseball was a sanctioned sport). I think it was the year when the Teagle kid was a senior.

Brian shmidt may have hit a lot of homeruns...but how many strikouts did he have to go along with that?  Don't even put him in a category saying he was one of the best hitters in the state because thats rediculous...In 2 games at state legion last year he struck out 9 times...thats pretty impressive

ya but than if you add in the freshie year e had and than his sophmore year not to mention his junior year i think it more than makes up for his "sub par" senior year even though h batted like .310

4/17/06

Game 1 - Dickinson 7, Century 5

Game 2 - Dickinson 11, Century 1

Kudos to Ming01, seems he was the only one to predict Dickinson's early season success. He took everyone's wrath (including mine) but still stood his ground.
