Wow Uconn your head is so far up your :censored: that you have less of an idea of what you are talking about than i do. Legion and high school are so unbelievably different it is incomparable did u factor in the seniors minot lost and the underclassmen that were not playing legion for mandan minot is not so over dominate a good hitting team with a decent pitcher should keep everything close and mandan puts the bat on the ball and boher tosses great given it is an upset the WDA race is going to be closer than everyone thinks

This is shaping up to be one of the closest races the WDA has ever seen.  With exception to Beaulah and Belcourt, any four of these teams can make it to state.  Mandan's pitching staff needs to be a little more consistent (last few games, it has started to stabalize though with wins against Williston and Minot).  Same goes for Bismarck.  Williston is feast or famine with those bats, but when they get going, they really hit.  Dickinson has a lot of raw talent and consistent pitching (not great, but good enough to stay in any game).  Century executes very well, they're very disciplined at the plate and on D.  The only thing that worries me about Century is Wentz's pitch count; kid is a phenom, but i don't trust making a young guy throw 10 innings a week.  St. Mary's seems to be a mystery to me.  No true ace in my eyes.   Other than Bohan, no one scares you too much at the plate.  But these guys are a very clutch, young, hard playing team.  Everyone knows their spot, and they get the job done.  And of course there is Minot.  Dominant pitching staff and 2 absolute studs at the plate with Lundy and Elgie.  Their only problem is that if those 2 don't have a good day, the rest of the team doesn't seem to pick them up.  They will never get blown out because their pitching and defense, but they need the rest of the guys to shoulder the load when their big guys are down.

Can't wait to see how the rest of the season shakes down.

How you can say that st. mary's doesn't have an ace. Matt Loomis struck out 10 Dickinson batters and struck out 4 of the first 5. He isn't overpowering, but his curveball is knee-buckling. As for the hitting, they may not have the best hitters or most power, but they always seem to get it done when it counts. Whoever has to come up clutch for the Saints always does, it seems.

I think it's great Mandan beat Minot, it shows you dont take anyone lightly, no matter what place they are in. Uconn, you may not show any love towards a seventh place team, but they just beat the 1st place team, give them some credit, they played hard and deserved it. Congratulations on the victory Mandan, Keep playing hard.

Records can be deceiving.  How many close games has Mandan lost this year? I know they gave Century a run for their money both times this year (their baserunning really hurt them).

Why would you say St. Mary's clearly has no ace?  Loomis is a terrific pitcher.  He would be the ace on any other staff except for Minot and possibly BHS.

There is absolutly no way loomis would be the ace for CHS i caught him (loomis) in summer ball he had a decent fastball a great curve and a decent change up

Wentz is currently throwing 5 yes 1 2 3 4 5 different pitches and not only that they are for strikes no way loomis would be the ace at CHS

Well Wentz did lose to Dickinson and Loomis pretty much shut them down the whole game, with the exception of Frenzel's shot.

i will also throw out a couple facts wentz threw a 3 hitter aginst dickinson and if his defense would not of made 4 errors in the second inning he would have won 5-0

They're both good pitchers, but Wentz gets overused WAY too much, and as a result he probably doesn't throw as hard as he should. And since he's (probably) done growing, he's not getting that velocity back. Loomis has a better curve and a better change than Wentz. Also, I heard that Wentz isn't throwing his slider this year which struck me as odd since it was his best pitch last year.

CHS 9 Dickinson 6

CHS 4 Dickinson 3

W Allen L Braunagel

W Schlosser L Rassmusin

Wentz still throws his slider but i think his split finger is his best right now

So you're saying u gave up 6 runs to a joke.  Is this the same joke that beat u guys earlier this season?

Let's get serious.  Every team has their ups and downs and in-betweens.  Dickinson has one of the top leftys in the west in schroeder, and one of the best hitters in the west in frenzel.  And dickinson can always hit, no matter what.

Let's wait to see at the end of the season id they're for real.

A lot of teams struggle at certain points of the season.  Well is Minot almost a joke then to since they lost to Mandan and Century???

considering as of right now century is tied with minot for best in the west and dickinson is in 4th or 5th and have a combined total of 10 hits aginst CHS and a total of 6 of 13 runs scored that were earned aginst century i will let you make assumptions
