Who will be the standout players in the EDC?

for the EDC. I would definitely say that Ebert will be a huge standout as he is going to Iowa Western along with Lundy. Landry from GFC will also standout. Does anyone know where he is going to school??

Yes Landry is going to the University of North Dakota to play football for the Sioux.  How about that Shane Schoeneberg from Jamestown.  As a sophmore he led Jamestown to the state tournament with both victories in the EDC tournament.  Last year to get into edc he pitched a shutout against Wahpeton and wasn't able to pitch until the last game in relief to go to state.  I believe that Jamestown's rotation and depth will lead them to a state title birth.  I also believe that Devils Lake with Josh Lagein and Alex Lundon will have a strong season.  I heard that Lagein is going to UND to play baseball.  Maybe you should not always focus on the big schools.

West players with skills:

1. Bismarck - Solemsaas - pitching only, Jon Hausauer, Tyler Johnson, Matt Kransler, questionable, he is either all world or not cool, lacks any real consistency, I do not particularily like him as a shortstop, but he is a top player for them

2. Minot - Zach Elgie, could be great, Hornaker, small but solid, a gamer

3. Century - Zach Wentz, unlimited upside, Dustin Wenzel, good player, not a second baseman, should be an outfielder or catcher, Evan Geshellchen, defense only, others with good skills are Chris Wenzel, Drew Hausauer, Skyler Geinert, if head is screwed on straight

4. Williston - Tyler Liffrig, great upside the kid can hit, Leer is also solid, among others a number of kids with average or better skills

5. St. Mary's - Tory Bohan is a good all around player, Cody Erhart is also right up there, he also is a coaches dream, soo consistant and extremely solid & hardworking, Matt Loomis (if he does not play golf), pitching only and that is it

6. Dickinson - Frenzel can hit a fastball as well as anybody, breaker? not sure?, good defensive skills, also like Schroeder

7. Mandan - no real eye-catchers, a group of at best average players, one exception could be the Bohr? Spelling kid as a pitcher

8. The only kid I like here is Casey Hausauer, solid both offensively and defensively, could start for teams ranked much higher in the west, plays the game hard

9. Belcourt - ???????

Wow how can you forget to mention the best player in the state?  Tyler Lundy of Minot.

Lundy is a good player Ming01, but he can't carry the team himself. If you really think about it, Minot has Lundy, Elgie, and Hornecker, the 3 are basically the only ones on Minot's team that can do anything. Look out for Minot to not be as great as everyone thinks, IMO. I also think you should give Century a little more credit, they will be great defensively and yeah the pitching might not be there, but besides Allen and Wentz, they do have a variety of kids that can get the ball down the plate, which is the biggest thing right?

Yeah I agree, but I was just mentioning that they had little expierence back.  I still think Minot will be the best team in the state, I could see them losing maybe a few regional games.  But thats just my opinion.

Lundy has other things on his mind, the jury is out.

Last I heard, was that Liffrig was doing physical therapy. dont know when and if he can return. Erickson was in a cast and got pins out in 3 weeks I believe. Don't quote me because I'm not 100%.

SiouxUND - I'd like to congratulate Mr. Schoeneberg on his performance last year but did you see Jamestown's legion team play last summer?  I think you are sadly mistaken and overestimate Jamestown's ability to qualify for the state tourney this year, much less making a serious run at the state title.

I agree that Devils Lake may be competitive but they lack the overall depth to be a serious contender.

If you look at Minot they have about 5 solid players returning in: Lundy, Elgie, Hornecker, Houston and Martinson.

I saw Brandon Coyle from Mandan on crutches at WDA basketball.  Does anybody know what happened to him?  Many of you guys picked him as somebody to watch from Mandan.  With Mandan already being on the lower end of the competitive bubble, do you think his injury will hurt their chances at all?

Coyle broke his foot/ankle something like that. Off crutches now, and in a boot cast. He should be ready pretty early in the year. Thus, I don't think that it will affect the long run of the Braves.
