I believe I saw Feeney started for Bismarck
Salentine is going for Fargo tonight (lead 12-6 after 7)

Interesting. Feeney has mostly been used as a closer all year, but I can see why they'd feel the need to trot out 92 against a team like that.

I can't explain how surprised I am that Fargo beat Rapid. Rapid could not get out the couple of times I saw them, with most those hits being off the wall.

You don't have to go looking, but did you ever see records for these teams?

I know only what gets put into newspaper articles. Fargo Post 2 is 33-19 and Bismarck is better than that...its always hard to find those details at Legion tourneys

before the tourney, I believe Bismarck had 9 losses, and Omaha westside was something like 51-4. So they beat a pretty good team.

St. Cloud Chutes moved to 26-4 with their win over Fargo yesterday (according to Forum article)

Same team that won a state title this spring in Minnesota (AA I think) plus one college kid.

All in all, decent showing for both Govs and Post 2... winning games and being in games says something at this tournament. I watched a number of these games, incl. other team's games. Both Omaha teams were legit. Consider: Omaha proper has ca. 12 legion teams. Pretty good baseball in Nebraska! 2 ND teams competing well (and outlasting SD, IA, etc.) says pretty good baseball in ND right now, too.

KB was a class act, and showed a lot of character coming back from first game loss to Govs (0-1) to win the whole thing. The lefty kid that Bismarck beat in the first game was tournament MVP, with 24 strikeouts, 1 ER in 2 complete games.

As for records, they can be misleading... Post 2 played high level tournaments/games in Minneapolis, Omaha, Sioux Falls... losses to state champs (incl. Bismarck) and high contenders are misleading. Sure, Chutes, KB, and other teams with gaudy records might be legit, but don't get caught looking past a team just because they've got some losses. The relative success of both Post 2 and Govs at tourney should not be a huge surprise.
