When seeding EDC teams from the Regional to State Tournament, the following principle will be used: “winners advance based upon pre-tournament seeding, unless the lower-seeded team defeats the higher seed during region tournament play. This will be used in all bracketed tournaments.
Here are the EDC seedings/match ups (they do not match what is posted for final standings on EDC, but it is a cut/paste off the same EDC site publishing the brackets):
THURSDAY, MAY 23th:
GAME 1, 7:00 PM @ Bennett: #8 Fargo South Bruins -vs- #1 West Fargo Packers
GAME 2, 5:00 PM @ North HS: #7 Fargo Shanley Deacons -vs- #2 Grand Forks Central Knights
GAME 3, 7:00 PM @ North HS: #5 Grand Forks Red River Roughriders -vs- #4 Fargo North Spartans
GAME 4, 5:00 PM @ Bennett: #6 Wahpeton Huskies -vs- #3 Fargo Davies Eagles
It is always interesting how the bracketing seems to benefit the Fargo teams though....
#2 Central:
Win over #3 Davies 5-4
Win over #4 North 9-4
Lost to #5 Red River 5-12
-1 Run differential
#3 Davies:
Lost to #2 Central 4-5
Win over #4 North 6-4
Win over #5 Red River 9-3
+7 Run differential
#4 North:
Lost to #2 Central 4-9
Lost to #3 Davies 4-6
Win over #5 Red River 5-0
-2 run differential
#5 Red River:
Win over #2 Central 12-5
Lost to #3 Davies 3-9
Lost to #4 North 0-5
-4 run differential
you are looking at the wrong part of the EDC constitution. Try the competition by-laws, Article III: Criteria for tie-breaking. but hey, they're just trying to screw Red River and help out the Fargo teams (ya know, the teams Red River was tied with and lost to), and that other Grand Forks team.
