Alex Kreis (2007 Grand Forks Central, 2011 Jamestown College) drafted in the 35th round in 2011 will start his third season of pro ball reporting to spring training for the Nationals in late February. Alex made the jump from rookie league to Class A Hagerstown last spring but had his season was derailed by severe pneumonia from early May until mid August. Last year he posted a 4.99 ERA and will look to improve with good health this summer. Likely assignment this summer is a return to Hagerstown or hopefully a move up to Potomac.

Cole Frenzel (Dickinson High School and Arizona), same draft class (7th round) as Kreis, is in the Mets organization and has played in the same leagues as Kreis the past two years. His rookie season was in Brooklyn, NY where he had an impressive .342 BA in just 19 games. In class A ball last summer in Savannah GA Cole posted a .204 BA in 47 games.

Thanks for the update Ted. Do you think Alex will make it to Double A this year?
