From the Forum:
Fargo North High School has named a new head football coach.
Grand Forks native Kelly Kalina has been the head coach in Fridley, Minn., the past two seasons. He says he’s eager to get back to North Dakota.
Kalina was an all-conference wide receiver at Mayville State in the late 1990s.
Kalina replaces Bret Sorensen, who resigned in February after 11 seasons as coach of the Spartans to pursue a job opportunity outside of coaching.
Sorensen posted a 59-52 overall record and guided the Spartans to the North Dakota Class 3A state championship in 2000. Sorensen also led North to the playoffs in nine of his 11 seasons.
