Their AD voted for this ludicrous plan so I have zero sympathy for them.
The goal was always to make sure Grand Forks teams could lose by 60 points in every game and still go to the playoffs.
Davies team was sacrificed to make that dream come true.

While I agree the overall record does look good their conference record isn't good enough for the playoffs. What WOULD have made too much sense is to keep the teams even to ensure non conference games to start the season, a 4 team conference is too small of a size. OR had a statewide conference and every game counted.

The way it shook out this year is unfortunate, they had conference games to start the year when they weren't gelling and were also missing a few kids. But that just the way it is sometimes.

I don't care what division you play in, when you have teams that are below .500 making the playoffs it makes the system look really bad. 9 Man had a team with 2 wins make the playoffs which is ridiculous.

This was going to happen regardless based on how small the divisions were. It really is unavoidable. someone was going to be .500 or less and make the playoffs.

Personally the GF and other Fargo schools shouldnt be down, neither should dickinson

The playoff expansion in recent seasons have allowed many undeserving teams in all classes into the playoffs. They have basically been glorified scrimmages for their much more talented opponents. I don't mind that development in itself as we see sub-.500 playoff teams in many professional and college sports as well.

What this year has given us is a bizarre situation with Davies potentially going 7-2 and missing the playoffs. Meanwhile, multiple teams from the west with either 2 or 3 wins will make the playoffs. I don't have a horse in the 11AA race, but all I can do is shake my head at their playoff system.

NDPREP, I agree with your assessment that a 4-team conference is too small. The 5-team 11A West conference also feels too small. When 3 or 4 of your 9 games decide your postseason fate, something isn't right.

I think if they really want to keep AAA this small it needs to be statewide and the top 8 teams can go to playoffs. Personally it feels watered down like AA did a few years ago. I would rather have it expanded but it appears fargo and GF do not want that.

If they are going to use the QRF...have one division, allow them to schedule who they want and I agree...the Top 6 or 8 should be in State. No reason to have the east/west distinctions for 10-12 teams unless they are balanced.
