AAA - Week # 2 Schedule (2008)

The teams in Class AAA

I won't be so bold as to make a prediction on the FS-Williston game, but Williston has as good of chance as ever to pull this one off. Most of the defensive line and secondary from last year returning, (they're big), most of the offensive line returning,(they're big), 19 seniors on the team with most of them having lots of experience. I know that our son is a senior with three years of starting on both sides of the ball and has taken two pretty big losses from FS and we wouldn't miss this chance for revenge for anything!! We don't see teams like FS that often to know what they have or don't have, but a win here would certainly start the Coyote year off with lots of confidence.
Thanks to FS for the invite to tailgate before the game.

Red River 15 over Century 14...Red River blocks a punt for a TD and recovers the onside kick, scores, and goes for two to win it.

Looks like there were quite a few good games this week with with West Fargo beating Bismarck, Shanley over Minot, and the Saint Mary's vs. GFC game was back and forth as well with the last team to score winning.

South will not lose to williston, yeh williston may have experience but only Qvale could pose problems for the Bruins. . . Congrats to Shanley on beating Minot, Jagim had a sick TD catch i saw on the news. . . And why did Esley Thorton not play?

I was at the BHS-WF game and it was a great game that came down to the final 20 seconds. Both teams played great, but each had easy mental mistakes out there that costed them. WF accepting the personal foul, after the quarterback ran it for like a 60 some yard touchdown? Dont know why but they did. BHS missing easy tackles in the backfield. Also the refs called everything on BOTH teams, I wish they would have let them play a little bit more. I would love to see the rematch when BHS is at full strength with Esley, you would tell BHS could not get much of a passing game going and I think it would be a different story with Esley playing....IMO

Does anyone have an update on the injury to Pope of GF Red River? The Bismarck Tribune just had a quote from the Red River coach saying it was a "serious spine injury."

I'm told he was x rayed and there was no damage to his spine. He hit his head really hard and his body went numb so it sounds like a stinger or pinched nerve thankfully as it sounds like it could have been worse.

Here is what happened. WF ran a mis-direction play. Everyone thought the QB handed the ball of to the RB. The QB did a very good job of selling it and scored on a long run. A BHS player was flaged at the goal line for a personal foul. He was jumping up and down and yelling right in front of the official and he was called for it. WF didn't accept anything. The QB did such a good job of selling the fake hand off that the official on the line blew the play dead when the running back was tackled while the WF QB was running untouched to the end zone. But there was another personal foul by a BHS player at the line. The personal foul at the end zone and the touchdown were over ruled by the play at the line because the official made a huge mistake and blew the play dead. If you are confused from reading this, I do not blame you. I was confused and I was there.

Considering BHS had about twice the amount of players WF had, I would consider them at full strength.

Great job to both teams. It was a very great second half.

Sounds about right. Williston can put up some points, but they haven't quite found a combination they like defensively.

Half of the players dressed didn't play. They were missing two huge parts of the offense in Thorton and Deyle, I am just saying it could be a somewhat different game if those two were playing. It was a great game to watch and WF ran the mis direction plays awesome, half the time I had no idea who had the ball. It was a exciting game to watch and hopefully we can see it again in the playoffs.

Congrats to FS. They showed that a step back like last weekend won't slow them down. I wouldn't say they are the run away favorite to win it all this year, I would have to say WF is probably a top contender IMO. That will the game to see the WF-FS game. As a BHS alumni I hope to see BHS aganist one of these two in the state game.

The Bismarck Tribune stated that Esley Thorton will sit out the first two games of the season due to training violations in the summer.

I dont think it matters really, its none of our business what happened. All that matters is he will be playing this week and should be exciting to watch

i don't think defense was a problem...i think it became a numbers game. williston stuck with fargo south till the end of the second quarter but then after that they just became tired.

Not if you we're at the game. Shanley man handled Minot... If not for about 3-4 plays for Minot, Shanley would have had a shut out. They we're riping off about 4-5 yds each run. Minot was asleep all night. Shanley had 2 big passes (1 for TD, other for a short run TD) and that was the ball game.
