Nick Kautzman DE and TE M/R hes tough all around. He will be coming into the season as a Junior with a state championship under his belt.

I've always thought Nick Kautzman had All-State written all over him, but for him to get on the all-state team his team is going to have exceed expectations. As a line-man he doesn't get much publicity or the like but he definitely is one of the toughest kids I have seen play football. But you wouldn't think it if you just ran into him on the street. Absolutely ferocious once he gets on the field, and technically sound as well. I look forward to see how the rest of his high school career plays out.

I'm gonna say Quin Ellison will be a sure contender. Jadon Messer will be there as well.

Grant Singer for Central McLean. (Underwood - TL-M). Not only is the kid a stud in BBall. He is an animal on the gridiron. I think he will be a First Teamer in 08.

He'll probably play FB/HB, and LB on D. He's 6'0" around 180. Strong as an ox and pretty quick. Has a nose for the football. He played really good as Soph. I look for him to do big things this fall.

Agreed. I saw Kautzman play 3 times last year and I think he could be the best in the state. Staying healthy is a big intangible in preseason predictions though.

Agreed that Quinn Ellison will be in the running also look for Austin Dhuyvetter to play huge this year. Austin is a kid that can do it all. He's a tough, smart, talented player that will do whatever it takes. He can either make the plays or provide the blocks for them to develop. Very unselfish, confident but not cocky. 2008 will be a banner year for him at DC. As good as he can play on offense, I would expect him to be selected as a linebacker because that is where his true talent lies.

Are there any all state players from region 4?

from region 2 off the top of my head...

Andrew Grothmann- full back or l ine backer
James Ihry - Running back
Bill Breen- center
i would say aaron meyer, but i dont know if he can get it without throwing the ball at quarterback..
Jay Bachman - line

Can't say I disagree with any of those, they're all pretty safe bets for All-State. However I don't think merely running is going to get Meyer into All-State level...at some point he's going to have to show what he's got in the passing game as well.

Of course, if he manages a 1,000yd rushing year (which I believe he can/should do), his passing stats don't exactly need to be astronomical.

The QB from DC is as tough as I have seen. Dhuevetter is also real good. There are a couple fast kids from RTH. Hillsburro is suposed to be stacked, Grothman, Breen. Central Mcclean should have a couple.

Jr. Grant Singer is the best bet for a depleted Central MClean. Ben Duben had a nice year for a soph. and Sr.s Hultberg and Hefta should be good also. From Washburn look for Jeff Rassmusen to have a breakout year at QB and he'll only be a soph. Wilton-Wing will have team MVP back in senior, RB Cody Durkee and a very good end in Sr. Cole Bender, and an animal on defense; Jacob Kubik will be only a soph. Some very young players in this region will make it interesting for the next couple of years.

I'm gonna throw a sleeper out there, and say Zach Grothmann will at least make 2nd team RB...he did a fantastic job filling in for Smelden when he went out for the last few games, and he is starting to fill out.

The only reason I don't think he'll be 1st team it because of the veer offense that the Burros run. 1,000 yards is definately likely, but it'll be the long runs/TD's that are gonna have to bring more focus into his game to get the nomination.

Singer and Hefta from Central are great picks as is Bender. Kautzman could be the best of the lot. No argument with the Hillsboro discussion. How about the North Border QB? Of course, winning in the playoffs gives you more players on the team so good teams get more individual recognition - and that is a debatable system to have in place.
