Week 7 Top Games to Watch:

6-0 Cavalier @ 6-0 MPCG
This is a late season match-up of top 5 teams with a lot of implications. MPCG wins the region with a win. Cavalier sets themselves up to play for a region title vs. FSHP with a win. A first round playoff bye is likely on the line. MPCG has one of the more explosive players in the state in the Bergstrom kid who ran for almost 400 yards last week. Cavalier has been putting up huge point totals lately.
Prediction- The winner of this game is the team that plays the best defense and I think it will be Cavalier. 42-28

5-1 North Prairie @ 3-3 St. John
This is just a long-standing rivalry where you have two teams who are perennial play-off football teams that don't like each other. These two teams are both still alive to win the Region title along with Bottineau, but at the very least, the winner of this game should be assured a home playoff game.
Prediction: North Prairie has been playing solid. I'll take the Cougars 42-32

5-1 Hettinger/Scranton @ 4-2 Mott-Regent-New England
There are a few other games where teams could win and clinch the region title this week, but this is the only game in the state where both teams have the opportunity to win and clinch the region title. They have played a few similar opponents with very similar results. This should be a great game.
Prediction- I'll take M/R/NE simply because of home field Advantage- 26-20

Games of Interest This Week

- Cavalier @ MayPort: The game that decides the region (I know technically FSHP is still in it with a Cavalier win but I think this one decides it). I think it either is a low-scoring slugfest or a shootout. I think low-scoring and defensive type of game benefits Cavalier and a high tempo shootout benefits MayPort. Cavalier has put up big points lately but against bad teams...that being said they are definitely more than capable of keeping up in a shootout with MayPort. I think this comes down to who is more physical and I think that will be the Tornadoes. Cavalier with a big win to start rolling toward the playoffs 36 to 22.

- Hettinger @ Mott Regent: Another region championship game. I don't know a lot about these two teams other than what I have read and seen in scores. Looking at schedules it looks like Hettinger has had the tougher schedule with Mott's best win being Grant County and losing big to South Border and Napoleon. Hettinger played South Border a lot tougher so based on that I'm gonna pick Hettinger on the road 36 to 14.

Region 5 could get interesting this week. South Border Central McLean who is coming in with nothing to lose and South Border is coming off a big win over Napoleon. This could be a trap game for South Border. If South Border brings the energy and plays as physically as they have all year they should win by 14+.
If Napoleon's starting QB cannot play this week they should still beat Beach, but that is a long road trip. By Saturday morning the top 3 seeds for Region 5 should be in order. I am guessing it will be New Salem #1, South Border #2 and Napoleon #3.
