Most Interesting Games This Week:
- Finley-S-H-P @ May-Port: Two teams geographically close together who are trying to fight for a region title. FSHP's only loss is to the best team in 9 man right now (LLM) but it is hard for me to buy all the way in yet based on who they have played so far. I think May-Port gets a big bump being at home. I will take them to win by 12.
- Nelson County @ North Prairie: Two undefeated teams. Dunseith is the common opponent and scores were very similar (Nelson County won 57 to 8 and NP won 50 to 12). I think this game is another that reveals whether or not Nelson is for real - I'm on the verge of buying in but their opponents to this point make it hard to commit. I will take North Prairie to win by 8.
- New Salem @ Napoleon: This along with Kindred vs. Central Cass are the two best games in the state this week IMO. Both of these teams are legit and will make deep playoff runs but Napoleon can be a brutal place to play. I think it is a slugfest that comes down to a last possession or overtime. I will take Napoleon by 2.

This is going to be a big week in Region 5. I think the South Border - KC game is huge for both teams. If KC loses they are going to really struggle to get into the playoffs and if SB wins it gives them a great shot at the playoffs. I will take South Border to win this one. The biggest game of the week in Region 5 is New Salem at Napoleon. Napoleon's offense has been very good this year and New Salem has won some close games. The winner of this is in the driver's seat for winning the Region. I will take Napoleon by 10.

Top 5 Games of the week:
Hankinson (3-1) @ Maple Valley/Enderlin (1-3)
I think that LaMoure and W/L are the top two teams in this region, so with that said, this is essentially a play-off game for these two teams, especially MV/E who has already lost to W/L. Hankinson could take a loss and still have control of their own destiny when they play W/L later on, but a win here would all but guarantee them a trip to the playoffs and an opportunity earn a 1st round home game.
My Prediction: Hankinson 22-16
FSHP (3-1) @ MayPortCG (4-0)
I think these two join Cavalier as clearly the top 3 teams in the region and they should all be fighting it out for region 2 supremacy. I think either team has two win this game to be a region champion, but no matter what else happens, this game could the very least promise the winner a 1st round home play-off game. I think MPCG may have an advantage playing at home, but FSHP has some very talented runners and could get loose on that turf.
My Prediction: Throw the defenses out, MayPort CG wins 52-44
Nelson County (4-0) @ North Prairie (4-0)
I haven't seen either team play yet this year. Nelson County started out with a close win over St. John and then has blown out the rest of their competition. North Prairie has won two close games including a shoot-out with New Rockford. I'm very glad to see Nelson County competing, but over the past couple years they haven't won a lot of games so I am not 100% convinced that they're not a product of their schedule so far this season. North Prairie has been competitive year in and year out. Those kids know how to compete in bigger games.
My Prediction: Give me the home team. North Prairie wins 30-18
New Salem (4-0) @ Napoleon (4-0)
New Salem is certainly battle tested on the season going through Beach, Grant County, Central McLean and South Border. Napoleon hasn't played a game within 20 points yet this year, so it will be interesting to see how they fair in a competitive matchup. This is a very competitive region and should be the last BIG test for New Salem, if they win they're in the drivers seat to win the region. Napoleon could win and still has to go through South Border the following week.
My prediction: New Salem has to be getting worn down a bit. I'll take Napoleon in a nail biter... 34-26
Mott-Regent-New England (2-2) @ Beach (1-3)

South Border with a dominating win over Kidder County tonight. James Schumacher for SB had over 200 yds rushing and 3 TD's. SB again controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
New Salem is beating Napoleon 48-28 with under 2 minutes to go.
This sets up a great match up next week when Napoleon travels to Ashley to play South Border.
I can see New Salem, Napoleon and South Border being an extremely tough match up with anyone (except maybe Lamoure) come playoff time.
On a side note, I was way off predicting the New Salem/Napoleon game!!!
New Salem is beating Napoleon 48-28 with under 2 minutes to go.
This sets up a great match up next week when Napoleon travels to Ashley to play South Border.

I usually talk way too much, but I kept my mouth shut this week for some reason. I felt going into week 4 SB was better than Napoleon and SB losing a close game to NSA didn't change my opinion on that.
