2019 PLAYOFF BRACKET

The teams in 9 Man

I believe the Kidder County district has two campuses (Steele and Tappen) that may have changed in the last couple of years. I believe the only students that play football for Kidder County are in the consolidated district. Steele-Dawson- Tuttle- Pettibone are the towns that go to school in Steele.

It’s not a coop; Kidder County is the school it just has a wide area of towns that are apart of the system...Steele, Dawson, Tappen, Pettibone, Tuttle, Robinson & Driscoll

HS - Steele
Elem - Tappen

I didn't know? But thanks for clearing it up, I've always assumed that they were a co-op. But anyways my prediction; Kidder County 26, Cavalier 24, good luck to both games.

Is the 9 man game at 9 or 11. I know they have switched the around in the past. Never mind. Looked it up. 9 man is early.

Anyone here sick of AAA being the 6:30pm gameevery year? Or being stuck with the 9am game almost every year?

This is only a guess on my part, but I wonder if fan attendance has anything to do with it? The NDHSAA knows the small schools(9 man) fans will show up no matter what time their teams play, whereas the biggest schools (AAA) fans wouldn't be there until after school is out. I would guess the 9 man schools take that Friday off of school so their student body can show up, the bigger schools probably don't/won't shut down school for the day so their students won't show up in as large of numbers. Just a guess on my part. I would like to see attendance figures for each individual game if that is possible.

You're onto something I think.

So, when looking at this site (Football Subsection), and the number of views in each class, it looks as follows
(Total Views)
AAA = 6,400
AA = 8,200
A = 9,800
9-Man = 18,600

Now does that mean that 9-man has 3x the number of people using/looking at this site? Or are the 9-man viewers just viewing everything 12x per day?

One way or another (the overall climb in views from 9 to AAA) means that smaller schools follow their team/division closer.

As far as tv viewers...blah. Profit/money should NOT come into H.S. sports as far as outside revenue. (Sure schools can make their own decisions, but this is different)

But yes, I would say that you'd have a much tougher time getting folks/parents from the AAA schools to attend a 9am game, or sure, lets word it more proactively...."you'd have an easier time getting small school folks to come early."

Sports are more important to smaller schools. The fans care more. "Class B" (AA, A, 9man in football) attendance per capita blows "Class A" out of the water. And I'm from a Class A area.

Perfect example: State Wrestling. A and B are now combined. A couldn't stand on its own. Class B tourney always electric. Class A was like going to a Mayville State Volleyball match on a Saturday night.

Its time the AAA's play at 9am. In reality, it should be rotated....If 9-man plays first game in 2019, they should play second game in 2020, third in 2021, etc.

For the next 4 years, AAA should have to be at 9am (they've had the last many at 6:30) ...then start the rotation.

I do believe that it is somewhat about money, however I do not think that it is the NDHSAA necessarily driving this schedule. I don't think it's about getting fans into the dome at certain times of the day, From what I understand, it is the TV station that has paid for the rights to televise these games who has a significant pull on the order that they are played in.

I could see this being an angle also. Fargo station broadcasts it, "Fargo" Is Class A, so in their mind, "Hey, its our channel, our rules, don't like it, don't watch. "

Someone should call NDHSAA and ask how the time slots are determined. :idea:

If the state sanctions 6 man we can have a 2 day state championship.
Friday: 6man at 4:00 pm
11AAA at 6:30 pm

Saturday: 9man at 11:00 am
11A at 1:30 pm
11AA at 4:00 pm

Like the idea...I’d put 6-man & 9-man on same day and do 11-man on same day; Friday would be a fun night

Would the Alerus or the Bison Dome be available on that Saturday though. I though that was the reason for playing all of them on Friday now.

Now that they're in the same conference, see if NDSU and UND want to play the weekend of state and have state at the other venue. Or have 3 games on Friday and two Saturday at the same venue with the Bison and Sioux playing at 7pm on Saturday, then wed have a true Dakota Bowl.

Friday
6man 1 pm
9man 4 pm
11A 7pm

Saturday
AA Noon
AAA 3
Sioux/Bison 7pm

Im sure the Logistics of this are ridiculous, but I bet it can be done.

I wasn't too long ago the state championships were on 2 days.

btw, MN used to have 6 state championships on the same day.

Not a terrible idea, but I really doubt that NDHSAA would put the 6 man games in the dome/alerus center. They play on a different sized field (I think it's 40X80). My guess is that even if they get enough teams to sanction a 6-man playoff and championship game, it will be at a different site. Maybe I'm wrong... I have been on one other occasion :lol:

Minnesota 9man plays on the same dimension field as ND 6man. MN plays their 9man championship in the Vikings stadium as well as a couple of their section championships in GF and Fargo. Not too hard to add temporary lines.

ND should move to same dimensions as MN for 9-man; but that was my thinking of having 6-man & 9-man on same day
