Coaching Victories

Cory Davis got his 100th career coaching victory for St. John on Friday. When he started St. John had no playoff appearances. Now in his 20th season the Woodchucks have made playoffs 11 out of the last 12 seasons with a few Region titles in there as well.

Who are some other coaches that have exceeded that milestone and who has the most Victories all time?

Dan Imdieke from Linton has most all time. I'm not sure on the number.

edit: old record was held by Fred Fridley with 321 wins, Imdieke can't have too many more.

Having 100+ wins with one small school program is a heck of an accomplishment, Congrats to Coach Davis. As for Fridley and Imdieke having over 300 career wins is borderline ridiculous. (In a great way) You have to wonder if any of the young guys coaching now will be around long enough to get to 100 wins.

Congrats to my Mayville State teammate and friend! He's done a great job with the Chucks!

I love seeing coaches hit milestones like this. Being at a school for that length of time and compiling that many wins takes dedication and a ton of hard work from the coach. But any coach worth a beans will tell you that also means you had athletes that bought in, administration that was supportive, great assistant coaches, and a wonderful community. I have a ton of respect for coaches who find a way to win where they are (especially in these small towns). Seems like some chase success to a place they think it will be easier to win instead of sticking with it and building a program. Congratulations to Coach Davis!

Anyone know how many Larry Sandy has at Velva? Seems like he's in the playoffs every year and he's been there for awhile.

I think I read Coach Sandy came to Velva in 1990 (someone in the know may need to correct me). But using the website http://northdakotahsfootball.altervista.org, Velva is 261-66 since the 1990 season. Only missed the playoffs 4 times in 29 seasons, and were sub .500 only 1 season!!

Imdieke at Linton and Linton-HMB has 326 wins in 39 seasons (1977-2015).

www.northdakota-scores.net has scores and records from the past 5-6 seasons; before that I highly doubt it
