1. Tommies
2. NSGU
3. Shiloh
4. MLS
5. MPG

That’s how I’d have it. RPL has to prove themselves and I don’t think NGS belongs either.

Don't sleep on NRS. The thumping they put on NP last week should have opened some eyes.

I thought they’d get more votes. NR-S win over a R4 favorite was far more impressive then R/PL win over a bottom R5 team...all others in Top 5 belong there even though NGS wasn’t an impressive win

In my opinion, Oakes had a very impressive win and probably deserves to be in the poll.

My top 5 would have looked like this:

1. Thompson
2. New-Salem
3. Shiloh
4. Napoleon
5. May-Port, Oakes, New Rockford

Right now I think that 5 seed is kind of open. Based on the quality of win I might have given the nod to Oakes but as it is the first game quality of win is really only decided by predictions of how good teams will be. I think there is a top 4 (and after the first game you could argue Napoleon might be in that next group not number 4 but I think they belong there) and after that it is a toss up between teams like: Oakes, May-Port, New Rockford, Oakes, Richland, and maybe Cavalier but after that game I would move them out of that discussion for now.

2. New Salem-Glen Ullin (6) 2-0 63
3. Shiloh Christian 2-0 35
4. Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 2-0 20
5. New Rockford-Sheyenne 2-0 15

Others Receiving Votes: Ray/Powers Lake (2-0), May-Port-CG (2-0), St. John (2-0), Oakes (2-0), Richland (2-0), Cavalier (1-1).

My Top 5

1. Thompson- Class of the field so far
2. New Salem Glen Ullin- Right up there with the tommies
3. Shiloh Christian
4. New Rockford Sheyenne
5. Oakes

Then pretty much the rest of the receiving votes crowd as listed already; with exception of NGS! They don't deserve to be there.

Napoleon is in an interesting situation. I think they have quality wins against teams that are playing tough but people expect top 5 teams to dominate so two tough wins aren't getting people excited about the Imperials. I think that when we look back at the end of the year at the Finley-S-H-P and Lamoure wins they will be quality victories for Napoleon. That matchup against Oakes in a couple weeks could go a long way to either proving to people they belong to be there or proving that they don't belong.

Why is Shiloh different than Napoleon. They barely squeaked by Mohall and didn't exactly run up the score on Grant county. Not sure how good of a team Grant county is. Yet no one is talking about Shiloh not belonging in the polls. The teams that don't belong in the rankings will shake out soon enough.

I couldn't tell you. I think both belong. I'm a firm believer that you beat the teams on your schedule and that a win is a win regardless of margin but I know I'm in the minority on that. Just like we see in college (basketball and football) people want their top teams to blow everyone else out. Close games against perceived "inferior" opponents are viewed like a loss to some people. I don't subscribe to that belief system. Both Shiloh and Napoleon have beat the teams they have played and therefore deserve to stay where they are at.

Couldn’t agree more.

Wins are most important but strength of win is everything in predicting 9man teams.

some teams pull off the Dogs, some don't, depending on many scenarios form start to finish of a season
..if you have 10 seniors on your team, well, chances are the younger group is not going to get playing time and you'll see blowouts............score is one thing but doesn't tell the whole story...
and then they always use the analogy of "well they were in scoring position but just couldn't punch it in" that could be due to a good defense was in thier way....

Its Early

Yep and that’s why we use scores to make guesses unless your at every game evaluating every play. It’s fun to talk about and all most of us have to go bye. Your right score is one thing and record is another but that’s why this forum is here.... let’s here details about games folks. Need more details of games from fans

Are the RVs just random or are they in order of how many votes each teams get?

Just looking at hope/Finley the team that destroyed them was New Rockford. Better than Thompson and considerably better than Napoleon. Shouldn’t NR be rated number 1. ??

Thompson beat them 40-12 in a rain-shortened game (game ended in 3rd Q). What could the score have gotten to?? I do agree that NR-S should be getting more recognition but hard to discredit the two western schools and what they've done so far too. Polls mean nothing other than debate...games are won on the field not in the rankings.

Is NR-S one of the Top teams in the State? Yes! Have voters noted that?? Yes...they are ranked so that shows.

Rain shortened game? Since when is that a thing in football. I've sat through games where it's 35 degrees and pouring rain and those didn't get shortened.

Slow moving thunderstorm shortened two games that night in the GF area...lots of lightning and rain. Both games that were shortened were far over. No need to risk the lives of everyone there to continue a blowout
