Region 3 is by far the toughest region in the state. I know Shiloh beat Napoleon-G-S, Strasburg-Zeeland, and now Linton-HMB but i don't think they can beat Central McLean. The Cougars have a couple of great RB's who can run the ball very well and they also have a tough defense. If the Cougars can put alot of pressure on their QB and wear their defense down the Cougars and will walk away with a victory. I know Shiloh's defense is very good but if the cougars can run it on them that will ware them down pretty quick. Like i said i'm not taking anything away for Shiloh. But the loss of all those players they had over the past couple of years will catch up to them either against Central McLean or in their 1st game in the playoffs.

Key's to a Central McLean victory is:

1. Run the ball and wear their defense down
2. Put lots of pressure on their QB.

Key's to a Shiloh Christian victory is:

1. Stop the Run.
2. Just do what they've been doing.

Central McLean needs 1 more victory to clinch a playoff berth and they need to win out to claim the Region Title. But if Shiloh beats Central McLean the Skyhawks will be Region 3 champions

Sorenson23, I don't claim to know much about Central McLean. I am not even certain which schools comprise the Co-Op. I'd guess Turtle Lake would be one, and I know that area has had some very talented athletes in the past. I'm having trouble thinking that your prediction is based on anything other than rooting for your home team.

Here's where I am having trouble thinking that they stand much of a chance vs. Shiloh.
1. Central McLean beat a poor zero win Kidder County by only 4 points. It isn't like Kidder County has been traditionally strong and just happens to be having a down year and found a way to muster a good effort to play Central McLean close. Kidder's program has been down for years, with no real end in sight.
2. Central McLean beat South Boarder by only two TD's. I've only seen SB play this year on television vs. likely the poorest 9 man team in the state, Sargent Central. And SB only won that game 18-0. SB has been referred to as "scrappy" on this site. I think that is kind of like telling your buddy, that you are setting him up on a blind date and start off by saying she has a great personality.
3. That is 2 wins vs. 2 teams that should not have provided much resistance for a team that you feel is the best team in what you feel is the best region in the state.

d_fense, just to add a few more points to your above statement.

4. Central McLean lost to Napoleon GS by 3+ TDs. and Shiloh beat NGS by 3+ TDs.
5. Linton-HMB has arguably the best running back duo in the Region. They went a combined 260+ yds. and had some long runs on Shiloh's defense. They also contained Shiloh's QB as much or more anyone Shiloh has played so far this year and still lost by 30. Shiloh has a lot of different ways they can hurt you. They have ran for over 340 yds. in a game and passed for over 240 yds. in a game. 6 kids including their QB can run the ball effectively and at least 7 kids can catch the ball. (I believe 7 different kids caught a pass against Linton-HMB.)

I like Sorenson23's enthusiasm and I agree that Central McLean is his/her favorite team. I respect that and know that in the end these are kids playing a game, anything can happen.

The only place Shiloh is going to lose a game is maybe in the playoffs. And that's a big maybe. They are a very well coached team. I have come to realize that is more important than about anything else in 9-man. Having good talent is one thing. Applying it in a game situation is another.

Sorenson23 - keep supporting your team. I think you are way off, but that is my opinion. I see Shiloh as the top team in Region 3 and I don't think it is all that close. I see S-Z as the #2 team with Napoleon and Linton-HMB rounding out the top 4 and making the playoffs. Even if South Border pulls off a huge upset this week and beats Napoleon I don't see the top 4 changing when all is said and done. KC is done and so is Center as far as making the playoffs and if South Border doesn't pull the upset this weekend they are done also. Central McLean has a shot at being the #4 seed if they can beat Linton-HMB. If Linton-HMB beats S-Z this week they become #2, S-Z #3 and Napoleon #4. (A lot of "ifs", but that is what makes 9 man so great!)

I would have to agree. That about sums up region 3.

All I'm saying is Shiloh beat three really good team Napoleon, Strasburg, and Linton-HMB but beating four really goods in four weeks really tough. I know they only beat Kidder County by four points but Kidder County has played tough against both Shiloh and Linton-HMB. If you recalled during Kidder County was ahead of of Linton at half when they played them. And the way Shiloh has put up 50 points on both Napoleon and Strasburg and 48 points against Linton and they only put up 36 points against Kidder County. Central McLean hasn't been good the past two years because of being part of Class A but playing in that region last year with Killdeer and Hazen theirs no way Shiloh who stand a chance against those two either. And besides we lost a lot of close games last year. A few critics don't think Central McLean has a chance against Shiloh. I guess we'll have to silent those critics. But we have just as much chance as any other team. But it should a really good game. And my prediction its not like I picked them to blow Shiloh out. All I said was if CM can contain their QB and shut their defense down and win the time of poss. The Cougars will win 38-36.

Note: just because we jump up to Class A for two years doesn't mean we're not the same team as we were in 9 Man. They're a very good 9 Man team and players on they roster have started the last 2 yrs.

And for some people who don't know what schools make up Central McLean. Their made up of Underwood-Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky.

Central McLean pitches a shut out 80-0 :D Go Cougars!!!

Really tho I expect a similar outcome as everyone else so far but hey some teams have bad nights and upsets do happen so hope for the best.

I tried to use scores and matchups to judge an opponent but it doesn't always work. Ya CM didn't look as good as normal against kidder co not sure why but just didn't look fired up. And #5 ranked Linton barely beat SB.
As to CM loss to Napoleon wasn't 3tds it was 2 and the game was closer than score would suggest.
2 wide open undefended dropped passes in the end zone on separate drives that ended as turn over on downs and that score would've been pretty even. So using scores doesn't always give the right perspective.

CM vs Napoleon was 8-8 at half by the way so no blow out

CM vs Linton last game of season will be exciting. I'm goin Cougars gets the 4 spot

I referred to SB as scrappy and no it is not like whatever garbage you said D_fense it is like exactly what it was which was a compliment to a team that lost an awesome smash mouth football game. Sargent Central is not near the worst 9man team in the state just in region one. SB and Kidder Co are not terrible teams I got SB and KC ranking like this in other regions

R1 3&4 or 4&5

R2 same as R3

R4 3&4

R5 4&5 Maybe higher

R6 possibly anywhere 1 thru 4

Of course this may not be exact but they are positively not 1 win teams in any region but 2&3 so ya if your look to get to the playoffs region 2&3 are not the ones you want be in. Those two teams army as bad as they seem

South Border over Napoleon 28-6. This really hurts Napoleon's chances at making the play-offs and opens the door for Central McLean to move into the 4th spot. South Border really dominated this game from about half way through the 1st quarter.

The playoff scenario if Central McLean beats both Strasburg-Zeeland and Linton-HMB the Cougars will be the #2 seed for the playoffs but thats a tough task tough. But all we gunning for is a win over Strasburg-Zeeland to clinch a playoff berth. I thought Napoleon was going to win this game but upsets do happen though. I thought our team played really well against Shiloh. We had it downed to a four point lead twice and they pulled away late in 4 qtr. At the end of the season standings could go as followed:
1. Shiloh Christian, 2. Central McLean, 3. Linton-HMB, 4. Strasburg-Zeelan

But it all depends on how the final two weeks go anything can happen though. We could get the #3 or #4 spot as well. But like I said if we beat S-Z, and LHMB we'll clinched the #2 spot for the playoffs.

I was at the game last Night and I would agree I agree with you that the Cougars played very well and really a couple plays probably changed the outcome and those plays could Have Gone either way. So my assumptions is that either Shiloh isn't as good as everyone on here is saying or the Cougars are much better than everyone said. It's probably some of both. This game just really showed that region 3 is very tough as advertised. This was a good high school football game. Good luck to both teams moving forward

I think last night solidified the top 4 teams in Region 3: Shiloh, L-HMB, S-Z and Central McLean. I still see Shiloh as the #1 seed, but after that it is a toss-up. L-HMB or Central McLean could be #2, etc... Should be a couple of good weeks to end the regulars season with a lot of games being critical for seeding. Region 3 should represent well with these 4 teams in the play-offs.

Region 3 is a very competitive region, and CM played very well last night. I think the Linton vs. CM matchup will be very entertaining to say the least. IMO the main play in Shiloh vs. CM was the interception before the half and then the CM score. If CM doesn't get that interception, the score at halftime is most likely 30 to 6 and both teams are just going through the motions after half. CM was able to keep it close and made it a battle. Shiloh just has to many weapons on offense for most 9-man teams to defend. Looking forward to the post season to see what this bunch can do!

I agree it should be an exciting final two weeks of the season before the playoffs. So much is on the line with seeding. But in the playoffs I would not want to play one of these teams. But I do think one team from Region 3 will make it to the 9 Man State Title Game.

Congratulations to Dan Imdieke, head coach for Linton-HMB. With L-HMB's win over S-Z Friday night he now has the most wins of any FB coach in ND history (321) (He passed Fred Fridley) Nice article in the Bismarck Tribune today. Quite an accomplishment.

Wow! That is Quite an accomplishment. Congrats! No wonder LHMB has had such a strong program over the years. Best of luck to him and his team the rest of the season.
