Can anyone beat Velva on their schedule this year? Who will give them a game? I think 1 and 2 or correct but I would have LEM at 3 and DT at 5. They have fire power but can they stop good teams.

We'll know Friday night about 10pm. DLB has probably the best chance of anyone remaining on their schedule.

I'm still not sure what to make of this DLB team. They essentially had 1 bad quarter against Trinity (a top 5 team), but who knows what they got out of playing a JV team last week (why did they schedule that???).

Open date on the schedule...guaranteed good crowd as it's an area team.

Also gave Minot North a chance to play a real Varsity team and that same Minot North team will be playing Varsity in AA next year.

Only other team that had an opening on the schedule last weekend was May-Port-CG and that only became open after OG decided to go independent at the last minute before the NDHSAA deadline (and R1 had schedule created).

Well Velva answered that call with a 40-16 thanks for playing DLB. So Velva will have to wait until the playoff's to find team that will challenge them. At least their JV players will get lots of experience with most of the games left on the schedule will be over at half.

I don't disagree with you, but I will say that the Velva/D/A/G vs DLB game was closer for a lot longer than expected. DLB was up 16-14 with 7:45 left in the 3rd. Velva did a great job of battling and then finishing the game.

I did not watch the game. By the score I would have guessed it a complete blowout with Velva JV giving up a couple late scores. How did it get out of hand that fast. Anyone have a link to the game?

Velva's Achilles heel is and will be the trenches, with 5 new starters from a year ago (1 lone returner out for extended time...not sure why, but had a boot on). DLB exposed that in the first half and put some pressure on Schepp from a bunch of different looks. It appeared that Velva made some outstanding adjustments at halftime and it was a completely different ballgame in the second half.

Velva's biggest opponent for the rest of their regular season might be their own complacency. I just can't imagine any scenario where their coaching staff is going to let that happen though.

Wednesday September 13th
1. Langdon-Edmore-Munich 4-0; 30
2. Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison (14) 4-0; 86
3. Kindred (2) 3-0; 65
4. Dickinson Trinity (1) 4-0; 49
5. Shiloh Christian 4-0; 21

After watching a few games of each one of these teams I believe Langdon-Edmore-Munich is the best team in the state. They have a good line, great QB and Great kids that can catch the ball... plus they can defend and tackle.
The second place team is up in the air to me right now. Velva's front has not impressed me very much. I can see teams running on them and teams getting to their QB.
Kindred would be in the second place but with them without Swenson as their running back and Safety leaves a huge hole. Kindred has kids to fill in but he was always a game changer. But Kindred still has a great line that allows them to run the ball and when the QB is on, he can throw it. Defense is really solid and will not give up many points to anyone.

Basically only one more test for the top 4 for the rest of the regular season and that is Kindred and Lisbon this weekend. The Viking should come out on top but it will be a close game. Kindred wants to run the ball and Lisbon sticks 8 in the box to stop the run.
So lets say Kindred wins this one.... how will the play offs break down with 1. Velva 2. Kindred 3. DT 4 Langdon

Does that mean that it will be Velva vs. Langdon and Kindred Vs DT??

Kindred didn't impress me at all against Oakes. I predict they won't make the semifinals.

It's based off of the QRF: https://www.northdakota-scores.net/boys ... 2024/17830

But they haven't begun to use the seeding for Class A...this is the only thing this site does

I think they will be in the final 4 but I completely agree about the Oakes game. Oakes is not a good team but they had a great game plan to slow down the Kindred Run game( still over 300 yards for the game). Bad penalties kept Kindred out of the end Zone a few times and finally Kindred changed the calls to take advantage of Oakes game plan and put up 3 touchdowns and then tried to kick a field goal instead of trying to score again. Kindred's Senior running back should be able to go this week against Lisbon which he was not able to go against Oakes.

Oakes might be the 3 seed in the region if they knock off Lisbon...and has losses to Central Cass (7-0) and Kindred (21-0) and won their other games in hand...but yeah you're right they aren't any good

Oakes has one of the best defenses in the state. They're weak at corner, but solid every other position. If they had any offense at all they'd be a state title contender.

But you said Kindred was not very good because they only beat Oakes 21 to 0? I am confused? So if Oakes is a really good team than I guess Kindred can not be that bad.

By the way I was just messing with you on the my post before. I think Oakes is a very good team and if they played out West they might be undefeated.

Since Kindred lost their Number one play maker for the year and the number 2 Back (Now the number 1) gets healthy to play.... They will be a tough out for anyone in the State.

He never said they weren't very good. He stated he wasn't impressed...that's two entirely different statements.
