Thompson 20
Grafton 34

Grafton has a big QB that can sling the ball around.

Grafton's QB went for over 300 yards and had a receiver with 7 catches, 261 yards, and FIVE touchdowns! Wow!

Watched the game on line and that kid can throw it. They have physical receivers that are not afraid of mixing it up to catch the ball. a Few of those catches could have been called offensive pass interference but I like when they let them play. Thompson penalties at key moments and then they have to catch the ball when it hits them in the hands. Grafton is going to win some games this year but if they come up against some good DBs that can play physical... and you will need to hit the QB so he is not comfortable.

All of those good basketball players playing WR/TE made the difference last night. They ran straight past the DBs way too many times. Offensively Thompson couldn't keep Grafton out of the back field. The last series of offense Thompson's QB got hit hard on 3 consecutive plays to end the game. Grafton is vulnerable to the power running game and Thompson was not able to do that and then dropped about 5 balls that would have been 10+ yard completions that hit guys in chests or hands.

Thompson may not be nearly as good as I thought and Grafton looks to be significantly better than I thought. Seems like those athletes on the edge got more physical and less scared since last year. If they can keep the QB clean and not get overwhelmed with the run I think Grafton could push for the top 2 in the region. Huge game for Thompson next week at home vs. Park River. If they they struggle in that one it will be really telling about how their season will go.

After a timeout, Carrington kicker hits a 39 yarder to apparently win the game as time expired. Refs get together in a huddle, and wave it off ... Said ball was 'not ready to play"

How could it not be ready to play after a timeout ?

I'm not from either team....but wow....that's a 100% crock of poo poo.

I read somewhere that Carrington had 10 players on the field and ‘white hat’ never blew the whistle for ‘ready to play’ out of timeout…still have to have the whistle blown ‘back to action’.

Don’t shoot the messenger on this…didn’t watch it, just relaying what I’ve seen elsewhere on it

I also heard that an official that is a former ND ref that is in the National H.S Referee Hall of Fame said that the original kick should have stood. That's kinda why I said it's a crock of poo. I figured he had all of the info, so I assumed he was correct.

Maybe he didn't have all of info/circumstances. Who knows.

I'm sure more will be said about it/ it will be clarified..

Well I have not seen the reply and have a few different stories. Does anyone have video? BUT one guy said the White hat was blowing the it dead before the kick went through and another guy said the play went off and after it was good they made that ruling. EITHER way.... a kid from North Dakota kicks a 39 yard field goal.... it should count.... LOL

The Kindred and Central Cass game was a real good one. Both teams landing punches and good defensive games by both teams. Kindred won the game in the trenches. Central Cass D-Line was over matched all night. The CC outside linebackers played really well and kept the running game in check or else it might have gotten out of hand. I see both teams in the final four this year with a toss up who gets the win. I am sure CC will figure out the d line by then.

The next play, after he made the kick. He re-attempted.

This time it was blocked. Take a guess at why it was blocked. LOL.

Wow! That had to be obvious if you had your eyes open. Was there any protest from the sidelines?

I have no idea. I would assume so but... this is h.s football and, that's not replay-able anyway even if there were replay.

The way I see it ND football, if the refs can get most of the calls right that could affect the outcome, that's about the best we can expect--and that's not bad. Not being sarcastic. Just being realistic. I would hate to be a ref. There is ALWAYS stuff you're going to miss in football with that many moving parts and that many subjective calls available.

But yeah, with that, it looks pretty obvious.
