It is a little harder to motivate kids I guess because they’ve been pampered so much. We’re in the trophy generation, give ‘em a trophy for 23rd place, make ‘em feel good. Make mom and dad feel good.” Tom Izzo, Michigan State Basketball

I'm pretty excited for class B football this year. A lot of powerhouse teams moving down and up to be playing in the same conference as each other. If I were to rank the regions from toughest to not so tough it would go 1. NE 2. SE 3. SW 4. NW.

North-East
Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich
Hillsboro/Central Valley
Thompson High School
Harvey/Wells County
Carrington Cardinals
Grafton Spoilers
Northern Cass High School
Park River

In the NE region, I think 1-4 are interchangeable.

I think the only school I don't see competing for the title in SE is Oak Grove ... but may they will be better than I think.
Central Cass High School Many quality pieces left from last year...
Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm Thunder Not sure
Kindred High School Lost one Star but everyone else is back from a team that was one dropped ball from getting to the State AA championship game.
Linton/HMB Lions Not sure
Lisbon High School Lost lots but they had a GREAT team last year
Oak Grove High School Maybe wrong but I think they will compete every week but not win many.
Oakes High School Always GOOD
Sargent County They will surprise quite a few. Better than many will think.

Here are my top 3 for each region in the east this year:

South East Region:
1. Kindred - Strong season last year in AA with a lot back. They are going to have depth and numbers to run off a lot of smaller schools and will have the upper end talent to compete with anyone. I see them as one of the pre-season favorites around the state.
2. Central Cass - Another team that will have good depth and should compete hard. I think they stand alone in a group with Kindred and there is more separation between the top two and the rest of the region that many think.
3. Tie with Sargent County, Linton, and Lisbon. I'm not sure Linton will have the depth to compete with the big schools in this region but should have some real high end talent. Sargent County will surprise some and should compete (if I had to pick a 3 it would be them). Lisbon lost a ton but coming off a state title game run should have enough left to compete.

North East
1. HCV - Huge numbers, tons of seniors, well coached, high end talent. One of the best two or three teams in the state. Would have competed for a state title up a level.
2. Thompson - Always good, great program tradition, and some really talented kids coming back. They will have to figure out who the primary ball carrier is and what they will do at QB with the injury but I look for them to compete.
3. Harvey - Many will look for Langdon to be high but I think Harvey has more depth and proven talent returning. Very good skills, always physical, and will look to prove something.

Well not all the rosters have been posted but I believe the only ones that will have numbers problems are Oak Grove and Sargent County. But I believe everyone else will have around 40 kids. CC Normally has over 50 to 60 kids. Kindred has 42. Lisbon 41 Oaks 45

This is the best division in the state by far. You have dominate 9 man programs with great tradition playing in 11 man now.... and you have 11 b Champs playing and you have 11 AA teams that competed playing in this division. Should be fun to watch and maybe only a few blow outs a year is what I am thinking.
