The teams in Class A

Thoughts on this weekend's games:

Velva @ Lisbon: I believe this ends up being one of the best games of the week at any level. Lisbon and that grind it out, smash it down your throat, 5 yards and a cloud of dust style meets Velva with some explosive athletes and the potential to hit big on any play. I think that this all comes down to the story of how the game plays out. If the game stays low scoring and Lisbon is able to grind it out I think Lisbon wins a close one. If the game starts to flip Velva's way and Lisbon has to go away from what they do so well I think Velva wins. End of the day when in doubt I pick the style of play that travels best and is most consistent: Lisbon wins 24 to 18.

Bishop Ryan @ Langdon: I hope I'm wrong on this but I think it is close game through parts of the 1st half then Langdon blows the doors off Bishop Ryan. This all comes down to who has everyone but if Langdon is at full strength and the weather allows them to be multi-faceted I don't think I would pick anyone to beat them. They are real deal! Big time players make big time plays in big time games and there is no one in the state who is more of a big time player than those Romfo boys. Langdon wins 40 to 12.

Langdon-Edmore-Munich a thirty-six game winning streak is on the line. Last loss Nov. 10th 2017 to Hillsboro (16-14).

Lisbon riding a eight game winning streak. Last loss was Nov. 8th 2019 at the hands of Langdon 50-0.

Langdon has won the only three matchup's against the Broncos. And outscored Lisbon in the previous those matchup's 134-36.

IMO! Langdon-E-M has to be one of the best Class A teams we've seen in a long time. But, we always do see some crazy things at the Dakota Bowl. My mind is telling me Langdon wins, but my gut is saying Lisbon will pull it off. There's a saying always trust your gut. This could be a shoot-out or a defensive battle. My prediction: Lisbon finds a way to slow down the Romfo boys just a bit. Lisbon prevails 30-28.

Sorenson23- I like your thought process. I think that a 50-0 margin from last year is just too much to overcome. Lisbon is a solid team. They're big and physical. Their RB's run hard. Langdon is smaller, but very talented and athletic. I do think that it is going to be a much closer game this time around, but I think Langdon has what it takes to hold them off. Langdon wins 34-28

Friday, November 13th
CHAMPIONSHIP: R2#1 (1) Langdon/Edmore/Munich (11-0) vs. R1#1 (2) Lisbon (9-0)
First off huge shoutout to Lisbon's coach and Langdon's coach for making the Dakota Bowl in one of the most craziest years ever. Both teams have completely changed their program around with Langdon going 1-7 in ‘15 and Lisbon going 0-8 in 17’. Now to the game. The way I think Lisbon’s offense is ran is they want to get a lead and keep the ball away from Langdon as much as they can. Lisbon is gonna have to get few stops on defense also. I don’t think Lisbon can score very fast as Langdon can, so every possession Lisbon gets will need to make the most of it. Langdon will have to control the line of scrimmage. Whoever wins the battle upfront both sides of the ball will win this game. This will be Lisbon’s first trip to the Dakota bowl as a unit, whereas Langdon seniors have played in every Dakota Bowl in HS. I think Langdon cements them in the History books as one of the best Powerhouses in Class A football history. Langdon 48 - 34 Lisbon.

It would appear by the final score, that Langdon did as well- yes?

Great season by Lisbon. Woulda been a state champion in almost any other year.

Langdon winning 3 in row.... wow. That won't be done again for a long, long long time. In h.s. football, the ups and downs come fast. Crazy to do it for 3 years in a row. Almost 4 in a row. 48-1 in last 4 years.

That's great athletes, yes...but I can tell you a ton of it is coaching.

Wasn’t too concerned about Langdon finding ways to score but that was a huge start for Lisbon...they just couldn’t hang with LEM in the 2nd half
