Top 6 I feel are accurate...next 4 could be anyone in any order

10. Bishop Ryan

2018 class A top 5 teams

1) carrington- clear favorite, 3 all state returning kids
2)Dickinson Trinity- great talent in back field
3) Hillsboro- so many kids to choose from
4) velva- Well balanced
5)Harvey- the upset special , tough kids

I think that the class system change last year showed that it played a huge role in how the season went. Langdon was the most talented team in the state before Hillsboro moved down. If you watched the state championship game I think it was two evenly matched teams until the 2nd half (4th quarter especially) when the depth of Hillsboro was just too much for Langdon to keep up with. Hillsboro was one of the deepest teams I have seen in a while. Having enough kids to avoid playing every single kid both ways and on every special team makes a huge difference. The reason I bring it up as I see this season playing out in a similar fashion. In my opinion Carrington is by far the most talented team coming back this season. Hillsboro, Kindred, Beulah, Velva, Killdeer, Bishop Ryan, and Trinity will all be competitive. I think it will come down to if anyone combines enough depth and upper-end talent to knock off Carrington (just like Hillsboro did last year to Langdon). I think some of those larger schools I mentioned will separate from the pack by the end of year.
