Well they are wrong...Park River's FB Schedule: http://www.northvalleyconference.org/g5-bin/client.cgi?cwellOnly=1&G5statusflag=view&schoolname=&school_id=6&G5button=13&G5genie=410&vw_schoolyear=1&vw_agl=4-1-13,

Once again Grafton has NO Non-Conference games being in AA this year! Grafton travels to Bismarck St. Mary's for their first game of the season: http://www.northvalleyconference.org/g5-bin/client.cgi?cwellOnly=1&G5statusflag=view&schoolname=&school_id=2&G5button=13&G5genie=410&vw_schoolyear=1&vw_agl=4-1-13,

Maybe they will scrimmage before that but AA can only play AA teams this year with the state wide schedule they have now.

Well that's a bummer for PRFL and Grafton. The highway 17 rivalry is a great way to start the football season for both towns IMO. Its always good to start with a non conference game that means something! Fan turnouts for these games were usually the biggest of the season,(non playoff). :(

I understand losing a rivalry game is always difficult but I would contend that playing one of the top teams in your division first week isn't a bad replacement game. Getting the opportunity to test yourself against a team like Hillsboro-CV is a great way to start the season. The fans should be out in full force to watch that game. It is hard to lose that rivalry game but you can't replace it with a game much better than they did. If Park River shows up and plays a good game against one of the top teams in the state the disappointment of not playing Grafton will be temporarily forgotten.

Too bad Trinity couldn't find a non-conference game. It is strange seeing their schedule with only 7 games and not playing this weekend. You'd think Ryan and Trinity should be playing now that they are in the same class again, but I guess not.

Anyone have any thoughts on the best/most intriguing matchups of week one? To me the most interesting are:

Hillsboro-CV vs Park River - how does Hillsboro look after moving down a class? Can Park River retool enough to compete after losing a strong senior class last year? Does Edinberg bring anyone who helps Park River compete?

Kindred vs Carrington- How does Kindred replace some key loses? Does Carrington build on a good finish last year?

Northern Cass vs Hazen - Two great programs the last few years playing in an early season matchup with both teams still figuring stuff out.

Harvey vs Velva - Two teams who may end up as playoff teams (depending on some other factors). Who gets a big win early?

I picked the same but all these games could go either way I think. I picked HCV Over PRFL but PRFL picked up Edinburg and Hoople. Don't know if many kids came out from those towns or not. Should be a good game. :D

Hillsboro/CV should handle Park River. (Dropping down a class and loaded with senoirs, but good game.)
Kindred and Carrington game could go either way. (Good game to watch, I like Kindred.)
Northern Cass over Hazen. (Hazen is a young, smaller team and lack playmakers offensively.)
Velva over Harvey. (Finished strong last year brought back some key players and its.. Velva)

I think Carrington and Kindred will be best game. I know Kindred returns most of a good line, do they have any skill position players back. I thought Carrington was coming on at the end of last year. Think Kaden Wolsky is gonna be tough to stop. Kindred has an excellent track program so probably have some speed to go with the line. It is hard for me to pick against EEK. Who are Hillsboro's horses, they seem to be getting alot of love on the site along with Beulah. I heard Trinity got a really good transfer, that is a shocker lol. Beulah will definitely be a force year in and year out in this division.

The score of PR and Hillsboro is a little deceiving. When I saw the size of the Hillsboro players, to the size of the PR players, I thought blowout. And it was in a way. PR played them pretty tough. A couple BIG mistakes and the game got out of hand. I think PR could be a better team than I thought. Hillsboro. If they clean up the turnovers will be a contender possibly? They have to get by EEK though. Hillsboro has an amazing receiver Henningsgard I think? About 3 Highlight reel catches. Nice Job :)

Yes! Carrington two running backs Kaden Wolsky and Drew Page ran for 121 yards each! Carrington had over 400 yards rushing. Kindred could not really get going on offense, first half they had some success running the ball but got no yards in the second half. No penalties 1 on each team, great clean hard fought battle!

Does Carrington have a pretty good line or just stud running backs? How did both teams look defensively?

Kindred has a great line! I would give the defense a B. They didn't give up any big plays just a grind! Carrington has great defense I would give them a B+. The leaders were Trey Rosenau with 2 sacks and Kaden Wolsky was the leading tackler with 8 solo and 1 assist. But Carrington two headed monster running backs are going to cause damage all season!
