My picks for this coming week:

Langdon - Northern Cass struggles against the pass at times and Langdon is coming off a 500+ yd game through the air. I will take Langdon by 2 scores (Langdon 40 to 24)
Larimore - I will take Larimore in a 1 point game. Ellendale Edgeley Kulm is going to give them everything they can handle but I will take the senior experience of Larimore to be the deciding factor in a very close game (Larimore 28 to 27). This will be the game of week, should be one of the best games of the year.
Velva-Sawyer - Coming off a big win I think they keep the momentum going (Velva 28 to 21)
Bishop Ryan - I will take Bishop Ryan by a couple of points. Hazen has the best player and it will be a very close game but I think Bishop Ryan is the more rounded team. (Bishop Ryan 40 to 35)

Playoff Picks:
Langdon 34 - Northern Cass 25 (Langdon airs it out again.)
Larimore 24 - E/E/K 20 (Game of the week out east, possibly go either way.)
Velva 20 - Des Lacs 13 (Velva on a roll but has to get a run game going. Game of the west.)
Minot Ryan 42 - Hazen 12 (Minot too much in all aspects of this game.)

Langdon-Munich 28-14
Ellendale-EK 24-22

Hazen 26-24

I don't know much about these teams. Considering my team is 9 man.

Northern Cass...looking for them to contain that pass game.
EEK (have to stick with my cinderella pick). Larimore is bigger & obviously very tough with a lot of talent...impressed with EEK's team effort.

Saturday, October 29th
G5: R2 #2 (2) Langdon (8-1) @ R1 #1 (RV) Northern Cass (7-1) Delvo puts on a show again. Defense has to play better though.
G6: R1 #2 (RV) Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (7-2) @ R2 #1 (1) Larimore (8-0) Closer game than their first meeting, but still like Larimore by 12
G7: R3 #3 (RV) Velva/Sawyer (7-2) @ R3 #1 (RV) Des Lacs-Burlington (6-2) Velva's the trendy pick and is playing with a lot of confidence, but DL-B is at home, will be rested from the bye, and is looking for payback from 2 weeks ago
G8: R3 #2 (4) Bishop Ryan (8-1) @ R4 #1 (5) Hazen (6-2) Been skeptical of Hazen all year and Ryan's the best team out west IMO

Saturday, October 29th
G5: R2 #2 (2) Langdon (8-1) @ R1 #1 (RV) Northern Cass (7-1) I like Langdon in a good even football game. I like Langdon because in a game between two similar teams talent-wise I think having a bye last week will ultimately hurt NCass. I'd take the extra week of building momentum over a week off.

G6: R1 #2 (RV) Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (7-2) @ R2 #1 (1) Larimore (8-0) This is the one home team I think wins this week, and that is solely because I believe that they are the best and most well-rounded team in the state. EEK is riding a big wave of momentum and will probably come out hot, but I think Larimore will overcome any initial shock and dictate the way the game unfolds.

I know very little of the west, so my opinions are based almost solely off what I've heard on this site.

G7: R3 #3 (RV) Velva/Sawyer (7-2) @ R3 #1 (RV) Des Lacs-Burlington (6-2) DLB is another team that I think will come out a little bit cold after a week off, and I believe that will cost them against a team as well coached and playing as hot as Velva did last week.

G8: R3 #2 (4) Bishop Ryan (8-1) @ R4 #1 (5) Hazen (6-2) I like Bishop Ryan in this game. Carr will have his plays, but region 3 handled region 4 last weekend and I don't think that'll change Saturday.

Any truth that one of the Hofers hurt their knee and is done for the playoffs. If so, that is a huge blow to Larimore.

I have also heard this...I don't know if it is true but I have heard that from multiple sources so usually where there is smoke there is fire. Hate to see a senior go down to injury and have that end their football career. I definitely feel for him if it is true.

First off. I hope that is not true about one of the Hofers going down. Those young men have impressed me for years. To go down in a senior season when the prize is in sight! He will be the one to lift the trophy IMO! if they win. Second I think all four of these games could be close. I'm from PRFL but I might make my way to Larimore to watch the game. Good luck to all teams.

G5: R2 #2 (2) Langdon (8-1) @ R1 #1 (RV) Northern Cass (7-1) I think the bye week does the Jags a lot of good. Been facing nagging injuries. If they are healthy I give them the nod.
G6: R1 #2 (RV) Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (7-2) @ R2 #1 (1) Larimore (8-0) Larimore is tough and I think they will pull it out but I think it will be an entertaining and close game.
G7: R3 #3 (RV) Velva/Sawyer (7-2) @ R3 #1 (RV) Des Lacs-Burlington (6-2) I think Velva is hitting their stride. No other reason
G8: R3 #2 (4) Bishop Ryan (8-1) @ R4 #1 (5) Hazen (6-2) Think will be close and possibly go to last possession.

I don't know much about the teams from the east so I'm not going to pretend like I do. Here are my predictions for that side of the bracket.
Northern Cass over Langdon- Revenge is a dish best served cold. 40º is cold enough to affect Langdon's passing game. The Jags get their revenge from an early-season defeat by the Cardinals.
EEK over Larimore - My cousin is an assistant coach for the Thunder, so I'm picking this one with my heart instead of my brain.

Now for the west. I've had a blast breaking these games down.
Bishop Ryan vs. Hazen - In my opinion, this a battle of the best athlete in the west (Carr) vs. the best overall team in the west. It's Ryan's run game vs. Hazen's pass game. Look for Hazen to pass early and often. Ryan's pass defense has been terrible this season. That's no secret. But from what I've seen, Hazen gets sloppy at times, relying on Carr's athletic ability to get them out of trouble. If Ryan can put together clock-chomping drives that result in TDs early, it will be a long second half for the Bison. Ryan's MO has been to wear down teams with their big line and dominate the second half. Discipline will be the key for the victor. If Hazen's offense stays focused, they'll win. If Ryan's offense avoids penalties and turnovers, they'll win. My prediction? Bishop Ryan over Hazen in a very entertaining game.
Velva-Sawyer vs. Des Lacs-Burlington - In my opinion, this is a battle of the most athletic team in the west (DL-B) vs. the best coached team in the west (although I am a bit biased). After a big upset of DL-B in the final week of the regular season, followed by an upset of Killdeer in the first round of the playoffs, Velva has become the darlings of the west. But we need to remember, had Berthold not lost to WNG in the final week of the regular season, the Aggies would not have even MADE the playoffs. So why are they looking so good now? First, they're getting healthy. A couple key players are back after early-season injuries. Jon Thomas and Aaron Dean didn't play in losses vs. Bishop Ryan and Berthold-OR. But, digging into Velva's wins the last 2 weeks shows they benefitted most by turnovers. Turnovers early and often helped propel them to early leads which their defense then made stick. DL-B's receivers are fast, aggressive and make plays. If they avoid the turnovers and keep their offense balanced, I think the Lakers should win. So, my pick? Velva-Sawyer over DL-B because I'm picking with my heart instead of my head again. I have way too many cousins who coach in North Dakota!!

For the record, my dream game for the state championship is cousin Garrit's EEK Thunder vs. cousin Larry's Velva-Sawyer Aggies with play-by-play being done by cousin Jack Michaels.

DLB Lakers defeat Velva.......18-14
Play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.

If it is a calm day, EEK will have to score more than 20 to beat Langdon...

I'll take BR in the West and EEK in the East...EEK just seems destined...

No love for DL-B? Fresh off a big win against Velva-Sawyer they will be fired up for a rematch with Ryan to get to the finals. They beat Ryan earlier this year although it was a 2 pt game. Expecting another close game and hoping the Lakers can continue their season. Go Lakers!

I'll pick Ryan in the west. Ryan lost the first one by too many turn overs. I'll say they don't do that this time. That was the difference between the VS vs DLB games. Would like to see DLB win but I don't see it in the cards.

EEK is on a roll, Langdon seems to be playing well, toss up. take EEK is a close one.

I'm gonna pick Ryan in the west. Those kids from Ryan are intense and they want to succeed as a team. When things go wrong I think they'll be able to pick each other up and keep charging forward.

R1 #2 Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (8-2) @ R2 #2 Langdon (9-1)
I think weather plays a huge role in this game. Any bad weather (rain, wind, snow) really favors EEK. If Langdon's passing attack doesn't get going EEK will win handily. This game could be the same next year in the semi-finals as both of these teams are loaded with juniors. Langdon being at home should be an advantage but we just saw EEK can go win huge games on the road. I think that Langdon has no answer for the running attack of EEK and Langdon gets enough going through the air to make it a great game. It will be high scoring. At this point in the playoffs I have a really hard time picking against the best player and EEK has that player in Grueneich. I will take Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm 42-40 or there abouts. I just think EEK has had the toughest road to the championship and finds a way to keep rolling.

R3 #2 Bishop Ryan (9-1) @ R3 #1 Des Lacs-Burlington (7-2)
I heard that the last time these two played Bishop Ryan wasn't entirely healthy and it was a very close game the first go around so that could play a factor. I think that Ryan is the best team in the west. Des Lacs is a really good team and will give Bishop Ryan everything they want and then some but I think Ryan finds a way to get revenge from last game. I will take Bishop Ryan 24-16.
