Haven't seen any games yet out West. But, Wyatt Carr QB from Hazen is 6'5" around 230 lbs. Recruited by UND & NDSU for football. He is the one to watch this year.

Watched him tonight, he is one to watch. Carr is hard to stop when on the run.

Against Oak Grove, Jackson Hankey from PRFL had 465 total offensive yards. He actually had 384 yards at halftime.

Watched Hazen play this past weekend in Glenburn. Carr kid was basically running at will. I had him down for 354 yards rushing and I believe 6 touchdowns. He also had some nice passes and a few TD there also.

Jake Hanson M/NS qb 517 total yards last week.

It is difficult to come up with a list of best players in the region because often times very good linemen do not go as noticed as the boys who touch the ball. Last year, Michael Kelly from Oakes, was clearly if not the top, one of the top players as a lineman. I don't see a player like that this year, or at least can't recall one. I like ChickenWings list, but would order them a bit differently. I would go....

Hanson (MNS)-smooth qb who sees the field well and is an allusive runner. Sure tackling safety with good speed.

Greunich (EEK)- talented hardnosed runner with very good size and seed. Typical good tackling wrestler.

Hoggarth (OG)- just a tick behind Greunich in my book. Stronger, but not quite as fast or heavy. Tough line backer who consistently makes big hits.

Bohmert (NC)- Put here because of last season and potential. He sat the first couple games with leg issues and only saw limited action last week. Very quick sharp cutting WR and DB. May not have the numbers that he put up last year because he graduated a very talented qb last year.

Slagle (OG)- Playing WR this year with the new coach and development of Hoggarth. Slagle is a very experienced ball carrier (all conference running back 2 years ago) and defender with speed. He also is working on some leg issues. I believe he was out last week. Hopefully both Bohmert and Slagle will be 100% this week.

What are others thoughts on region 1? Who are some linemen that should be on the list?

I would add OL/DL Adam Neustel from M-NS to your list from Region 1. For only a sophomore, he's a beast on the line

Heard Wyatt Carr of Hazen had over 200 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns this past weekend. That's over 500 yards rushing and 13 rushing TDs in the last 2 weeks alone! Does he have an older brother who plays for UND?

You should know that he does have a brother playing WR for UND. You have been posting about him a few times and even commented that you saw him play at WNG and had him down for 354 yards. I think Wyatt had at least one more brother that played football at UND. I don't know what to think about any team in the west. Four weeks into the season 1/2 of region 4 has yet to win a single game. I know only Wyatt's last game was vs region 4 but most of region 3 would be winless if they didn't play games vs region 4.

The last 2 weeks Hazen has beat teams that are a combined 1-8.

That is not true. WNG has not received a vote this season.

Wyatt Carr didn't even make the all state team last year. He must have really picked up his game.

Wyatt Carr is a dude. No question that he should be all state. His numbers are crazy because they have only played one team that isn't really struggling this year. That team is The defending AA champs who are way down from last year, but still a legit AA team. I believe that game was in the 33-6 range.

Running totals on stats (yards, TDs, tackles) for anyone? What is the record for most yards in a season? Career?

I don't know about stats but among senior athletes, Jepson and Hankey have compiled the most impressive resumes. 2 time all state performers with a third selection almost guaranteed, 2 Dakota bowl appearances each, multiple Dakota bowl touchdowns including a game changing play for each (Hankey's came later in the game then Jepson's so it was a game winner), played multiple positions depending on team needs. Never let their team down with training violations.

Sounds like both are piling up the stats in their senior year. I would expect both to be Senior Athlete of the year for their respective regions based on their stellar high school careers.

Your forgetting about the football player that had 306 yds running , 166 yards passing, and 5 TDS against Jepson & Co.
