Will Danny Stasch be able to play? I heard he hurt his ankle in the semis.

Strongly disagree with Dooley as coach of the year. In my opinion, he took the most talented team in the state and by putting them in that offense from 1920 instead of a spread that would have fit them perfectly, he made them about the 5th or 6th best team in the state.

Beulah had good skill players but they were severely lacking when it came to their lineman. Their lineman were all undersized and most teams ran right threw their defensive line.

Just about every football coach that lost to Beulah said they had never seen an offense like that and didn't know how to defend against it. When your line is lacking you usually have to resort to weird offenses, trick plays or strange motions to keep the defense guessing. They played a close game in the loss to Bishop Ryan, beat a much bigger opponent across the line in Wahpeton and lost to the eventual state champions. Gotta give the coach some credit as well.

They still had a successful season obviously but like I said I felt they were the most talented team in the state. Their d line wasn't great but their o line did well. Maybe it was because of that offense but I think they'd have been fine in any other offense too. You can't tell me they wouldn't have been better with Zacher and Hintz running in space and Zacher throwing to all those athletic receivers. Built a little bit like last year's Grafton team except the receivers were tall and their runningback was shifty instead of a bruiser. Only difference was their line wasn't huge. You don't need to be huge to block a spread though.

The spread would definitely would have been more of a crowd pleasing offense for sure but I just don't see that changing their outcome in 2012. You compare Beulah to the 2011 Grafton team but everyone forgets is they also had very a VERY BIG line to go along with their many skilled players. Maybe Beulah could have beat Bishop Ryan in the regular season but they probably would have fallen to the same fate playing Valley City. Big, strong hard hitting lineman from Valley City would have ran right through their defense and sent them home in the quarter finals.

Congrats to Shanley for winning the title.

It was a great game to watch, both teams grinding it out. Love a low scoring game. Thanks to both teams for a great season.
