Some interesting points to make in this poll.

#1 Shanley lost to unrated Central Cass by 12 in week 6, but #2 Grafton beat CC by 36 in week 5, and #4 Beulah beat CC by 2 in week 2.

#3 Ryan just beat #4 Beulah in week 7, but Ryan has an early season loss to Kindred (a team that is winless in the East Region.)

Would it be fair to say that any team that can make the playoffs in AA, has a legit shot at being State Champions? I don't really see anyone you can call a clear favorite.

The main factor in the Casselton games is in the losses Bresnahan didn't play in the second half of Buelah and in the Grafton game he only played defense. If he doesn't get hurt they don't lose the Beulah game. Grafton was really a bad showing all around. I would agree that their doesn't seem to be a clear favorite but I think depending upon weather the team that can run the ball will make the finals. It just gets tougher to pass the ball as the weather turns colder.

Another great week of match ups will help close the gap. The information that old#63 provided was certainly interesting. Is there a website that helps understand where the teams stand with the remaining two games? I.e. If they get 2 wins, they are in. One win and one loss, they are out, etc?

I would attempt to do scenarios for Class AA but there is WAY TOO much that could happen. Bishop Ryan is in the playoffs...that's the only guarentee right now.

After this week's games I will post scenarios for next week...

I thought I heard if Ryan loses their last two games, they would actually be out of the playoffs.

According to the NDHSAA: they have clinched a playoff berth

I'm not sure I'm right on this, but I think in the West, Ryan is in for sure, and Bottineau, Mary, and TMCHS are out. In the East, I don't think anybody is in yet, and Kindred and GBC are out. If I'm wrong someone certainly can correct me.

WEST (conference record) (remaining games)
Bishop Ryan 5-0 Rugby, St. Mary's
Beulah 4-1 Carrington, Trinity
Rugby 4-1 Ryan, Carrington
Trinity 3-2 Bottineau, Beulah
Carrington 3-2 Beulah, Rugby
St. Mary's 1-4 TMCHS, Ryan
Bottineau 0-5 Trinity, TMCHS
TMCHS 0-5 St. Mary's, Bottineau

EAST (conference record) (remaining games)
Shanley 4-1 Lisbon, GBC
Grafton 4-1 Kindred, VC
Wahpeton 3-2 GBC, Lisbon
Valley City 3-2 CC, Grafton
Central Cass 3-2 VC, Kindred
Lisbon 2-3 Shanley, Wahp
Griggs/Barnes 1-4 Wahp, Shanley
Kindred 0-5 Grafton, CC

NDHSAA shows that Shanley had 2 losses overall. I am aware of the loss to CC, but who was the other loss to?

I feel it should be pointed out that Ryan had many injuries and Bachmeier was healthy at the time. Still a game they should have won.

I guess eveyone can come up with the "this player was hurt or we wudda won" scenerios. Injuries are part of football, and while I understand that one big name player can make a difference, that sort of stuff happens every season. Championships are about teams, not individual players.

My point, in the examples above, is that once we end up with the 8 teams that make the playoffs, I think that this years field will be very well balanced, with any of the 8 having a legit shot at being champion. I compare that to the last two years in AA. Last year the clear favorite was Grafton. The year before that the clear favorite was Shanley. This years playoff will be a lot more wide open.

I know what you were getting at. All i was pointing out was Kindred wasn't the worst team in the state before Bachmeier got hurt.

Is there going to be a State Poll this week? Or are the games pretty much going to determine it tonight?
