Just like on the football forum... Can someone put together an All-Time ND team? (since BB only has 5 players on the floor lets try to make it a two-deep roster or even a 12-man roster to get some names out there)

That would be tough. For certain I'd say Phil Jackson (UND) and Glenn Hansen (LSU), as both played in the NBA. You have to think Jeff Boschee (Kansas), Scott Guldseth (LSU and UND), Paul Presthus (Minnesota), Jerry Pyle (Minnesota) and Nick Jacobson (Utah) have to be there. I'll leave the other three to five spots for somebody else to fill in. There have been a lot of great players over the years.

phil jackson wasn't from north dakota, right? played ball for und but is from montana...

 He's from Williston,  the high school gym there is named after him now.

Born in Deer Lodge, Montana, 1945.  Jackson was raised in a strict pentacostal home; both of his parents were ministers. Most of his early childhood was spent in Montana; his parents later moved the family to Williston North Dakota, where he attended high school and was a multi-sport star.

Jackson went on to play basketball for the legendary Bill Fitch at the University of North Dakota. The 6'8" Jackson's wingspan was so prodigous that Fitch would often have him show off to NBA scouts with something called "The Car Trick," in which Jackson would sit in middle of the back seat of a 1950's Buick and open both doors simultaneously!

Dustin Undlin - Lansford/Mohall - Northern State

Ross Pankratz - Minot Ryan - Northern State

Les Jepsen - Bowbells - short NBA career

Kenny Younger - Minot High - Houston

Coaches - Phil Jackson, Lute Olson, Dale ? (LSU - recruited Shaq)

how about Travis Kraft from MPCG.  Played at DI South Carolina for a year, but had foot problems.  Averaged dang near 30 a game.  Should have been Mr. Basketball.  Don't see a 6'7" point guard these days either.

I do remember that shot against South Carolina.  I agree with Travis Kraft being on the all-time ND team.  no question.

How has noone said Steve Blehm yet.  Yes, he was deaf but the guy could still play ball. 

Don't forget about Doug Swenson from Halliday.  He played his college ball at BSC and then moved on to Creighton to finish out his final 2 years of eligibility.  Had stints with the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls in the NBA! 

jeff boschee starting for Kansas has to be considered

Here are IMO 5 of the top class B players ever:
    Scott Guldseth-Edinburg-88 mr bball, UND's all time leading scorer
    Hunter Berg-Grenora-last class B Mr. Bball, put on a clinic at 95 state tourney
    Todd Olson-Cavilier (Number 3 in Class B scoring, 4 in Rebounding)
    Steve Blehm-NDSD ND's all time leading scorer, just shy of 4,000, more than 1,000     pts. more than anyone, and oh by the way, before there was a 3 point line
    Travis Kraft- should have won 99 Mr. Bball, "the shot" against florida, 6'7 + could         play any position on the floor

Nick Jacobson-4 year starter at Utah- career 3-point record holder at Utah- Would have easily destroyed the ND points record had he stayed in fargo for his senior year.  Aruguably the best player ND has ever seen.

 

I dont know if you can say he would have "destroyed it"....if he averaged 20 points a game he would have beat the record by about 20?...

Class A, yes...

guy from Vally City....dont recall his name maybe Jeff Boschee? 4 year starter at Kansas, career 3 point record holder by 69 (quite a large margin i think and over 40% for career), 3rd in minutes played (to play the 3rd most minutes in the history of Kansas is impressive), 2nd in starts only behind Danny Manning, 10th in career assists, and the more impressive one to me is that he is 13th in career scoring for a school that has been playing for over 100 years, a Final Four.  Jacobson was great yea but im goin to say Boschee is the best player ND has ever seen. And a true North Dakotan at that, he didnt start here and leave like Jacobson.

i'm not sticking up for Nick Jacobson...but he is the Mountain West Conference's 3 or 4 th all time leading scorer...in his defense...i figured we'd be democratic about it

he wasn't a true point/center...played more of the 1-5....hybrid...center/point is probably more accurate.

honestly whats the differnece?  someone needs to play point he does....someone needs to play center he does.  does it matter if they are called a center/point or a point/center???
