What are some of the more impressive state tournament runs (boys or girls) in the history of class B basketball??  I know of the girls side Esmond went 7 or 8 straight years in the 80's.  On the boys side I believe Trinity has been there the past 7 or 8 straight years as well.  Are there any other streaks like these??  I know a lot of teams have had 3 peats, but I'm looking for more than that....

For quality runs I would nominate the Kenmare teams of the 1960's. Kenmare reached the FINALS of the State Tournament 5 concecutive years ('63 - '67) winning three times. Imagine playing for a State title every year you were in high school. Some of those kids did.

After a little more research I found that Kenmare also played in the State tournament in '61.

Linton was mentioned earlier from the '80's. They had teams in the State tournament in '79, '80', '84, '85, and '87. The won it all in '84 and "85 I believe.

Newburg played in the Championship game 84,85,86 and 89, winning it all in 86. They lost to the above mentioned Linton in 84 and 85. Beat Belfield in 86. In 89 they lost to Bisbee-Egeland. Current coaches Jeff Hagler (North Star) and Jeremy Brandt (Beulah) both played in the 89 Championship game.

It was Jeff's younger brother Corey who played on the '89 team. If I remember correctly he injured his knee in the semis and couldn't play in the championship.

I remember someone on the B-E team was injured and couldn't play in the Championship game. Made it all the more remarkable that B-E beat favored Newburg. However I thought Jeff Hagler was on that team. Can anyone from B-E clarify for us?

Jeff graduated in '85. Corey in '89. Others on the '89 team were Flanagan, Carter, Bursinger, Knutson, Cookman, Starr, Barwicki, Krick, Christopherson. Know I am missing a few. Al Olson was the coach.

Minot Model won 5 State titles in 7 years between 1947 and 1953.
